90.3 WKNJ-FM, Union, New Jersey, and I’m _____________ with the news.

Local News…

The Federal Communications Commission voted to repeal Net Neutrality and several states are

making legislator to stop it, but New Jersey is choosing to stay out of that for the moment. Chris

Christie will be leaving office in a few weeks to be replaced by Democrat Phil Murphy who

expects to have more to say on the subject in the future.

In other local news…

New Jersey has picked its best bakery: Sweet Melissa Patisserie in Clinton NJ has won a contest

hosted by NJ.Com for best bakery beating out nine other finalists for the prize. Sweet Melissa’s

was established in Mary 2016 by Melissa Murphy Rafano. She had 3 bakeries in Brooklyn

before moving to NJ and has written a cookbook since. The bakery was picked out of 40

nominations by 30,000 votes by NJ citizens in an online poll.

In National News…

In Virigina, the race for a seat in the house of representatives took on a new twist, while it was

previously thought that Democratic Candidate Shelly Simonds defeated Republican Candidate

David Yancy by a single vote. It has since been found out that the vote was actually for the

Republican thus making it a tie. In Virginian Law in an event of a tie, the winner will be decided

by lots to take place next Wednesday. The loser can ask for a recount after this event.
In International News…

The UN has voted 128 to 9 to demand that Trump and the US rescind it’s decree that Jerusalem

is the capital of Isreal. This decree goes against 50 year of national consensus and has

contributed to Americans political isolation. Major allies like France, Britan, Germany and Japan

voted in favor with other allies like Canada and Australia abstained. This move while largely

symbolic, is seen as a collective act of defiance.

In the weather:

In Union, it will be sunny with a high of 40 degrees and a low of 30 come the evening. Winds

being very minor along with very little humidity.

Lastly In Entertaiment…

Daniel Day Lewis, a three time Oscar winner is leaving films, after the release of “Phantom

Thread” this Christmas. The actor has said he is retiring from acting, citing filming Phantom

Thread as a central reason as to why. Mr. Lewis leaves behind an illustrious career of acting and

will be missed if he decides to actually retire.
