Nakhom Pathom is the capital of the province of this name, west to Bangkok and has the world’s
tallest stupa, Phra Pathom Chedi. Nakhom Pathom is a small province 56 km from Bangkok. The
province features an ancient religious structure called Phra Pathom Chedi, the first religious
landmark that signified the influx of Buddhism into Thailand. Nakhom Pathom is also renowned
for its abundant fruit varieties and famous dishes.

Luang Phor Pern Hospital is a community hospital located in Nakhom Phatom Province. This
hospital has been built since 1990 and under the Ministry of Public Health. This hospital has only
30 beds but is very well recognized regarding alternative medicine service. So many people came
to this hospital to get a service in there.

Luang Phor Pern Hospital has some program for society especially for the postpartum. They
program are physical therapy department, traditional Chinese medicine, thai traditional massage,
thai spa, thai traditional massage & health promotion in boat, and elderly school. All of their
programs is to increase standard of health of the society.

Physical therapy department is a program for rehabilitation patient who has a physical problem.
Majority of the patient who came to the physical therapy department is patient post stroke. They
do some treatment to recover their body from disability.

Traditional Chinese medicine is a treatment came from China. The doctor who work in traditional
chinese medicine must study first in China about 2 years. In there they have 2 kind of services are
acupuncture and cupping. For the acupuncture they do the treatment by needle. They inject the
needle into the body of the patient appropriate with the determined point. After that they connect
the needle with the machine with low voltage. The patient doing the treatment until 20 minute.
Cupping a treatment they do by cup. They heat the cup and then the put it on the body of the
patient. The function of that treatment is decrease the patient pain. The room that they use have
Chinese nuance and it will make patient relax.

Thai traditional massage and spa is treatment came from Thailand. They do the treatment to the
society especially to the postpartum mother. The massage and spa will make the body relax and
increasing blood circulation. And for the postpartum the treatment will decrease the pain after
delivered. They do the massage and spa during 1 hour. The room that they use for massage and
spa have Thai nuance like thai music. The music that they play is very slow and that make the
patient relax.

Thai traditional massage & health promotion in boat and elderly school are treatment to increase
knowledge of the society. They do the promotion on the boat because some of them have a
occupation in the river and their home mostly near with the river.
