4. Warm-Up: Lines/ball handling Time: 12:10-12:15


Description:
Players run one set of lines with the ball (baseline-foul line-baseline-half court-baseline-opposite
foul line-baseline-opposite baseline) Right hand one way, left hand the other
Players will then line up and be lead through a series of basic ball handling warm ups:
 Passing the ball between finger tips, back and forth with arms fully extended upwards,
then moving down and full extending downwards (repeated twice)
 Passing the ball around their head , then down around their waist and finally around
their ankles (repeated twice)
 Right handed dribble
 Left handed dribble
 Move forward/backward/side to side while dribbling
 Dribbling through the legs
 Dribbling around the back

Keeping heads up while dribbling
Feeling the ball as opposed to seeing it
Muscle memory
7. Activity 1: Passing break down Time:12:15-12:20
Description: Breaking down what is a pass, Proper form (Coming from the chest, thumbs to the
back of the ball, flick wrists so thumbs end up facing the ground and hands are back to back, to
the partners chest. Bounce passes bounce a step or two in front of the partner), Step into it,
look, eye contact, say name and strong, accurate pass. Partner passing.

5. Activity 2: Find the open man Time: 12:20-12:25


Description:
Players line up in three lines, the middle line becomes defenders and the other two lines
become team mates. The goal is to get the ball from one side to the other, however the ball can
only be passed across diagonally or next to them and cannot be held on to longer than two
seconds, once it gets down the line, switch the lines

Reading which man is open

6. Activity 3: No Dribble keep away Time: 12:25-12:30


Description:
Two teams, passing only, no dribbling. Must count each pass as they catch it, out loud. The team
with the most consecutive passes will cheer on the other team as they do a set of lines.

10. Cool- Down: Walking Time: 12:30-12:36


Description:
Players walk around the court, following commands on how to dribble. Ex Right hand, low, left
hand, crossover
Followed by a quick team meeting (12:34-12:36) to talk about the rest of the week and remind
them of the game

Dribbling control

Practice Reflection Notes:
Find the open man was confusing for the boys to figure it, more time to explain it may
have been beneficial. Keep away is always a winner, the boys love it.
