After the Spanish-American war, the US was an empire. The economy in the 20th century was booming and Europeans
complained. America as a superpower led to an increase in military and political involvement. Americans often
discussed foreign policy. Woodrow Wilson’s view was “liberal internationalism”. Involvement in WW I tested the belief
that American power could make the world safe. The government saw people with different views as enemies and that
made the war one of the biggest repressions in history.
