As a general manufacturer of sports equipment and organizer of sports events since its founding in 1906, Mizuno
takes special pride and pleasure in being able to take part in the exciting world of sports and making the entire
globe the stage for our activities.
Our management philosophy “Contributing to society through the advancement of sporting goods and the
promotion of sports” is clearly reflected in our strong support of numerous worldwide sports events and in our
dedication to advancing sports through cutting edge research, technology and craftsmanship.
Mizuno today has global sales of US$1.65 billion (2007), over 5,700 employees worldwide, two headquarters
based in Osaka and Tokyo Japan, six overseas subsidiaries, and in Europe, three branch offices in the United
Kingdom, France and Germany.
Mizuno has 4 global business units , “Diamond (Baseball & Softball)”, “Golf”,” Footwear Apparel”, “Wellness
(Health and Fitness)”. In Japan, Mizuno provides more categories e.g. Ski wear, Racquet sports, Outdoors and
Mountaineering, Swimming wear, Sports facilities etc.

9 CSR Mission & Strategy
Mizuno Group has always worked to fulfil its corporate philosophy. As a concrete approach to doing so, we focus
on the promotion of CSR by creating a corporate culture that thoroughly emphasizes fair play, friendship and
fighting spirit, refusing unfair acts, while working proactively to help conserve the global environment and
enhance communication with various stakeholders around us.
‐ Realizing a corporate philosophy
Realizing a corporate philosophy “Contributing to society through the advancement of sporting goods and the
promotion of sports.”
‐ Fair corporate activities
We will deal with a variety of issues in compliance, corporate ethics, accountability and disclosure etc., and
undertake more transparent and fair corporate activities.
‐ Initiatives for social problems
We will implement initiatives that make use of Mizuno’s distinct characteristics to resolve a variety of issues
such as human rights, labour issues, education through sports, environmental issues, etc.
We have set out nine areas for a balanced achievement of our CSR vision ;
Corporate Governance, Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Control, Conservation of the Environment,
Customer Satisfaction, Stakeholders Satisfaction, Disclosure to Stakeholders and Social Contribution.
9 Main Focus / Projects
Mizuno started activities for conservation of environment in 1991. We mainly focused on Environmental aspects
for over 10 years. However, in and after 2004, CSR department and committee were established and acted
positively to Social issues including labour environmental issue as well.
< Major CSR highlights of the past years >
‐ 1991 : Mizuno launched an environmental project, CREW21 (Conservation of Resources and Environment
Wave).
‐ 1997 : Mizuno’s Yoro Factory obtains ISO 14001 environmental management and inspection certification
‐ 1998 : Mizuno supplied full‐recyclable official wear to IOC in Nagano Winter Games.
‐ 2002 : All Mizuno facilities in Japan received ISO 14001 certification. Yoro Factory met the environmental
target of zero emissions.
‐ 2003 : Mizuno attained Zero Emission at all its domestic plants. Each month, we track and manage emissions,
emission amounts, incineration amounts and landfill amounts for each plant.
‐ 2004 : CSR committee was established within the company.
9 Challenges
1. Global Environment Conservation Activities
‐ ISO14001
In May 2004 it acquired certification for Shanghai Mizuno, its largest overseas production facility. Mizuno
continuously extends the certified office and factory globally.
‐ Development of Environmentally Friendly Products
Mizuno is aiming to develop products friendly to the environment and increase sales of these products under
the following six concepts:
(1)Development of products using cyclic materials, (2)Development of products using semi‐cyclic materials,
(3)Development of product using recycled materials, (4)Development of products manufactured using
ecologically friendly processes, (5)Development of products that conserve the environment and
(6)Development of products that promote energy savings.
2. Initiatives for Improving the Labour Environment for Asian Suppliers
As a subordinate organization of the CSR Promotion Committee, a Labour Environment Improvement Group for
Overseas Suppliers has been established to address human rights issues of labourers at foreign manufacturers.
CSR staffs at Mizuno Shanghai, China are placed in charge of auditing not only the respect for basic human rights
and compliance, but also initiatives in concerned areas

<Corporate responsibility>
∙ World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFGSI) :
Mizuno follows the Code of Conduct of WFSGI from 1997. Mizuno participates its CSR committee from the
establishment in 2004.
<Supply chain conditions>
∙UI Zensen (Japanese Federation of Textile, Chemical, Food, Commercial, Service and General Workers' Unions): UI
Zensen is a superior organisation of Mizuno Union (Worker’s Union in Japan). Asics, Mizuno and UI Zensen have
regular dialogues for Labour Environmental conditions in the supply chain and it has also been an advantage to
increase mutual understanding.

ISO14001
In 1997 , Mizuno’s Yoro Factory obtains ISO 14001 environmental management and inspection certification.
In February 2002, Mizuno acquired the certification for all its Japan operations.
Also, in May 2004 it acquired certification for Shanghai Mizuno, its largest overseas production facility.

CSR Report
Mizuno publishes its CSR report on an annual basis to clearly and briefly communicate to stakeholders the CSR
activities that Mizuno is conducting in economic, social and environmental areas.
