1.

1 Road Design

The road design for this project is based on JKR design manual which is suitable for the
design of road with medium traffic. The layer of the road will be design by 4 layers which is
consists of surface layer, base course, sub-base course and sub-grade. The design period of the
road that will be indicated is about 10 years because it will be economical in term of initial
capital outlay and also with respect to total cost. The cross-section and detailing road design will
be shown in drawing.

For the drainage system, the road will be design as transverse slope. The main purpose for
providing slope in transverse direction is to facilitate the removal of surface water from the
pavement surface in the shortest possible time. This project will purpose slope 1:40 with the road
reserve width is 15.64m. The application of kerb and scupper are to control drainage by
restricting the flow of surface water and directing the water to drainage system.

Parking and terminal facilities are essential part of the total transportation system. Planning
and designing of these facilities demands an understanding of the characteristics of vehicles,
behavior of driver, parking operation, parking generating characteristics of different land uses
served. Parking can affects the vitality of communities, commercial and business centers, transit
system and airport as well as the efficiency of traffic circulation in downtown areas. Thus, for
this project the parking will be purposed as a parallel parking. The angle that will be proposed
for the parking in this project is 90°. The detail for the pavement road marking and stop sign is
provided in the drawing. These kind of sign is important in mention to the facilitate road users
for more safety.

2.1 Temporary Road

Temporary road were design for workers to in and out for project site area. This temporary
road was nearby the hostel area that will be built. The width of temporary road is 3.5m suitable
for plant roadway in site.
3.1 Proposed Road

The width for purpose road is 15.64m. The road is one-way road and had parking space for
vehicles at both side of the purpose road. This road is for users that will stay at the hostel area
and the pavement structure for purpose road using JKR method as shown below:
