Pakistan Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management

Pakistan Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (PITHM) is vocational Institute imparting
professional training in different disciplines of the Tourism & Hospitality including Food &
Beverage/Culinary, Hotel Management, Travel and Tourism. Basic purpose of the Institute is to
provide skilled training with focus on self-employment and entrepreneurship.

Like other vocational Institutes, PITHM is last resort for drop out students who are failed to secure
education in other either due to weak academic background or financial instability. In this way, this
Institute is playing its role to engage youth in productive manner and keeping them away from the
appeal of the negative energy i.e. robbery, theft, drugs etc.

1. Affiliation with KDU University Malaysia regarding start of 1st Degree Program in
Hospitality in the Province under process.

No any Institute is offering International Degree Program in the hospitality in the country.
Therefore, keeping in consideration first mover advantage, PITHM had negotiated with KDU College
University Malaysia regarding start of Degree Program in the Hospitality. In this regard, concerned
bodies of both Institute have in principally agreed for collaboration between two Institutes
regarding launch of the Degree Program.

2. Launched 1st time in the history of Pakistan, Junior Chef Program for School going
Children.

Pakistan Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, the pioneer Institute of Hospitality of the
country has once again created history by launching 1st Junior Chef Course for school going children
of 5 to 14 years age. In the Junior Chef Course little starts are trained to prepare their own lunch
box while going to school so they can avoid junk and unhygienic foods. In the 1 st Junior Chef
Program students are trained to prepare Pizza, Mini Burgers, Spaghetti with meat balls, Fish &
Chips, Chicken Nuggets, Pasta, Assorted Sandwiches, Coconut Macrons, Vegetable Spring Rolls,
Cakes, Chocolate Brownie, Doughnuts, Muffins and Potato Salad.

3. Bill regarding Degree Awarding Status of Pakistan Institute of Tourism & Hotel
Management in under vet of the Law Department Government of Sindh.

At present, Pakistan Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management is offering Certificates and Diploma
in different fields of the hospitality. In order to provide ladder path and level playing field to future
generation to compete at International forum, PITHM has designed map to start degree program at
its own. In this regard, a bill was drafted for the status of Degree Awarding Institute duly approved
by the Chief Minister Sindh. The bill is under vet by the Law Department Government of Sindh and
would be tabled before the House of Sindh Provincial Assembly for approval once it is vetted.
 4. Establishment of Regional Center of PITHM at Hyderabad (under process)

PITHM is offering skilled training focus on self-employment and entrepreneurship enabling youth
to start earning at their own without looking towards private/public sector for employment
opportunities. As PITHM is established in Karachi, therefore, the students of interior Sindh are
unable to get benefit of it. Keeping in consideration above fact, hon’able Minister of Culture,
Tourism & Antiquities/Chairman Board of Governors PITHM, directed for establishment of a
branch of PITHM in Hyderabad City to accommodate students of interior of Sindh. Upon successful,
launch, further branches shall be established in different regional headquarters of Sindh. in this
regard, 1st Regional Center of PITHM will be established in 2017-18 in Hyderabad.

5. Recognition

PITHM is recognized at provincial level by Sindh Board of Technical Education, at Central level by
National Vocational & Technical Training Commission of Pakistan and internally by City & Guilds.

6. Infrastructure

This Institute has 05-Airconditioned Class Rooms with academic aids, 01-Airconditioned Training
Restaurant, 01-Airconditioned Model Housekeeping Room, Two Training fully equipped
Kitchen, 01-Airconditioned Bakery, 01-Airconditioned Library, 01-Airconditioned Computer Lab
and Seminar hall etc.
