SK TOK MAT SALLEH

Introduction

It is one of the departments in the School Curriculum Committee

which comprises the English Language teachers.

Vision

Attempt to achieve 80 % of English passes in the UPSR.

Reduce the numbers of pupils who are unable to master the three
main skills in language learning by the end of Year 6.

Mission

Working with full commitment, equipped with specific skills and

requisite knowledge base, to ensure effective teaching and learning
process as well as pupils’ language mastery.

Panel’s Role

Improve and upgrade the quality and effectiveness of languag

teaching and learning.

Run meetings / discussions to identify and solve problems pertaining

to teaching and learning.

Discuss the current curriculum implementation.

Review analysis on pupils’ performance in English Language monthly

tests, semester exams and also UPSR based on the school target.

Generate positive values such as cooperation, teamwork spirit

among the members in the panel as well as other panel members.
Suggest plan and ensure successful implementation of the English
activities throughout the year.

AGENDA

1. WELCOMING SPEECH BY THE CHAIRPERSON

1.1 The Head Panel welcomed En. Mohd Rosli bin Hj. Hassan
( Senior Assisstant 1 ) and all the committee members for
their presence. She highlighted that the main purpose of
the meeting is to discuss on the yearly activities which the
panel should carry out to improve the mastery of English
Language among teachers and pupils.

1.2 The Head Panel also congratulates all the English

Language teachers for their effort and hard work in
 reaching 100 % for the English subject in UPSR 2009. She
hopes the teachers will perform better this year so that
the victory is ours this year.

2. CONFIRMATION OF PREVIOUS MINUTES

2.1 The minutes was confirmed as proposed by Pn. Farahtina

binti Nordin and seconded by Pn. Ummi Kalsom binti
Ahmad without any amendments.

3. MATTERS ARISING

3.1 No arrising matter raised up in the meeting as everything

was well done for the year 2009.

4. DISSCUSSIONS

4.1 Appoinment of English Language Panel Secretary

The Panel agreed to appoint Pn. Ummi Kalsom binti

Ahmad as the secretary for this year.

4.2 Panel Management

It is agreed that the writing of the lesson plan follow the

format based on the English Hour Manual. It can be typed
or hand – written.

Action : All the English Language teachers

4.3 Programmes and Strategies for 2010

It is agreed that the English Language Panel plan

strategies and programmes for this year that can enhance
the students achievement in all aspects, academic as well
as non – academic.

4.4 Oral Assessment ( SBOA )

 It is agreed that oral assessment must be carried out for
all years. Marks will be recorded using the forms provided
by the panel.

4.5 NILAM Programme

It is resolved that this programme must be carried out.

This programme focusses on enhancing the reading skills
among pupils. Teachers are reminded to remind the pupils
to read the English storybooks and write the report in the
NILAM book report. Teachers are to monitor that this
programme worked as planned.

5.0 OTHER RELEVANT MATTERS

5.1 The Head Panel reminded everyone to submit their

personal particulars and timetable to her as soon as
possible.

5.2 The Head Panel reminded everyone to work on time

especially when dealing with marks, post mortem and
headcounting.

Action : All English Language teachers

5.3 The Head Panel asked all the English Language teachers
to work hard and gain more efforts to maintain the result
of this coming UPSR.

POST MORTEM OF THE BAHASA INGGERIS UPSR 2009

The overall percentage of Bahasa Inggeris UPSR is 100%. The

students who managed to get A also showed an increasement that is 11
candidates managed to get A compared to only 4 candidates in the year
2008. Only 5 candidates from a total of 21 candidates managed to get B.
Another 5 candidates managed to get C for their Bahasa Inggeris UPSR.

STRATEGIES TO EXCEL IN THE BAHASA INGGERIS

UPSR 2010

1. Finished the syllabuses before June.

2. To do revision on grammar and sentence structures

in January.

3. Extra classes should start as early as February.

4. Technique of answering questions should be exposed

earlier.

5. Teacher should do more exercise on writing.

6. To increase the percentage of A and B, all the potential

students will be grouped into intensive class which will

be

held in May.

7. Teachers should check the notes and exercise books

frequently.

8. A workshop on technique of answering questions

will be held

in June.

9. Intensive test, using the trial exam questions

from other states
 will be held after the trial exam.
