MONDAY—EVANGELISTIC PRAYER TUESDAY—FOCUS ON CHRIST’S MIRACLES
Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 1-2
Monday, January 1
† 1 Tim. 2:1,3-4 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For this is good and acceptable in the
sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved,
Eternal Lord and Savior:
You save sinners in answer to our prayer. The ordained mechanism for
salvation is prayer and preaching the word. Was anyone ever saved for whom
someone else did not pray? So I pray for _________ and _________ today!
How can I neglect prayer? If I have not the Spirit of Christ I am none of his
(Rom. 8:9). And what is the Spirit of Christ? Did he look over Jerusalem and say,
“This city is predestined to be destroyed,” then calmly go his way? No. He saw
things by foreknowledge because he was God, but providence has eyes, and
predestination never chilled his heart or his prayer. He wept over lost Jerusalem.
I sometimes feel my prayer is unimportant because of my own heart’s
barrenness. Really that’s no excuse, just an aggravation of the sin of
prayerlessness. If I feel like I cannot pray, I should pray twice as earnestly! I
ought to pray until I can pray, then keep praying until I have prayed!
I should pray more because I owe so much to prayer. Since those who were
in Christ before me prayed for me, should I not pray for others? Prayer is the
passing of the baton of faith. Regeneration is solely the work of your Spirit. So
the natural result is, since I am born again I should pray for the Holy Spirit to
regenerate others. If it is entirely your work, and I cannot even depend on the
preacher, I need to invoke your power. If I do not ask for divine energy on this
new year’s services, where are my senses? Have I lost them?
When I cannot sleep, then I can keep the “night watch.” We sustain great
losses when Christians cease to pray. Help me fill that gap today, Lord. Amen!

Tuesday, January 2
John 2:9-10 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and
knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast
called the bridegroom, And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good
wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good
wine until now.
Heavenly Bridegroom and Lord:
You started your miracle ministry at a marriage, like you invite people today
to a holiday feast. This age will end at a marriage supper! So then my life can end
like all good stories do: “they were married and lived happily ever after.”
Come Lord Jesus, even today, to celebrate the festivities of your marriage
between yourself and our church. Oh, the food and drink at that reception! Just
like at the wedding in Cana, all the joy and bliss will come from gifts of your own
giving. Come and manifest your glory once more! You have been a man among
men; come back now to be a God among men.
In the meantime I need you to operate beyond the realm of nature in my
own life. There is a natural process by which the dew and rain enter the roots,
flow through the vine, and become refreshing juice in the grape. But I need even
more of a miracle than that. I need you to take the plain water of my life, in the
earthen vessel of my body, and transform it into wine, even while it is being
carried to the table!
Make the lost take note of my testimony, as did the ruler of the feast when
he tasted. Use me today to help relatives and friends taste and see that the Lord is
good (Psa. 34:8), and thereby bring glory to you. Help me manifest your glory
between now and your return Lord, because I ask it in honor of your birth and
death, and on the authority of your ongoing life. Amen.
FRIDAY— CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY

Friday, January 5
Eph. 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or
wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
O Lamb of God!
We cry after holiness to you. You know we do not expect to be saved by it,
but we do see part of our salvation as being progressively delivered from the
corruptions of our flesh in this life. To be emancipated from the power of sin is a
great desire on our hearts. We look forward to the rapture—with one of the best
parts being how we will be able to stand faultless before your throne.
John 13:10 Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet,
but is clean every whit:
Lord, we have been redeemed from sin and washed from uncleanness by
your blood. Will you not now daily wash our feet by your Spirit, and cleanse our
conscience with your word, so we can be clean every whit?
Rev. 3:4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments;
and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.
Lord, let that be us! It can happen by your Spirit through your grace. Since
this is the dispensation of grace, we ask you for help out of our bondage, because
that is the preparation we need to live for your Eternal Purpose this year. Even if
we lose hope, we can still expect your help. Though our faith grows weak and our
love burns low Lord, renew our trust. Let us mount up as eagles to rise above our
doubts, our darkness, our deadness, and our disquiet.
Grant us grace to glory in tribulations also, because whatever the trouble—
us beauty for ashes before this winter ends, the oil of joy for mourning, and the
garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness. Do it to Jesus’ eternal credit. Amen.
WEDNESDAY—REVIVAL PRAYING
Chronological Bible Reading: Genesis 3-5
Wednesday, January 3
Jonah 4:7 But God prepared a worm when the morning rose the next day, and it
smote the gourd that it withered.
Heavenly Father, Redeemer and Friend:
In my affluent apathy I grow careless, and reliant on this world—with so
little delight in you—that you must wither my gourd. Help me use this experience
to bear a testimony of your faithfulness that no un-tested person can tell. People
fishing only on a lake have no stories about adventures at sea. If you want me to
have a strong testimony, then I need to sail out of sight of the comfortable shore.
I have to risk myself to the sea in time of storm. You are training me to be a
hero! Help me recognize how it cannot be done except through great and bitter
griefs. And grief happens the best when helping others grow.
I have learned my weakness. Make my own consciousness of it deeper and
more painful still, because until every bone in my body is broken, I will not fully
rely on you. The purpose of the problem all along was just to get me to the end
of myself, because then I reach the beginning of your working.
I may have doubts about whether you will exercise grace in specific
circumstances, but there is no question grace freely rains on the soul that is
empty. My soul inquires after you: give us revival!
1 Cor. 1:29-31 That no flesh should glory in his presence. But of him are ye in
Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and
redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
I thank you Father, because Christ is made the fullness to my emptiness,
the righteousness to my sinfulness, the life to my laziness, the deliverance to my
distress, everything to my poverty and wretchedness and wickedness. I trust in
you as I trust in him, and will yet seek you in prayer for revival. Amen.
SATURDAY—IN THE PSALMS

Saturday, January 6
Psa. 99:5 Exalt ye the LORD our God, and worship at his footstool; for he is holy.
Eternal, Exalted God and Father:
You are King. The mercy seat is your throne. The scepter you hold is holy
like yourself. Yet you never exert power tyrannically. Your might delights in right.
Your saints in the past were sure what you did was always just. Instead of
questioning your love they submitted humbly to your will. They confidently
rejoiced that your power was devoted to promoting righteousness and justice for
all. So let me be as certain today. Remove all distrust from my mentality!
Even if no one else adores and trusts you Lord, at least I will give you my
worship from my heart, no matter what you do to me or with me. Because I
experience your loving-kindness I should praise you in every circumstance. I
blush at being so backward about it. It is my daily delight to acknowledge your
hand and adore it. No matter how confused I may be, you are always full of
untainted righteousness, unswerving goodness, and unbounded love.
Holiness brings harmony to all other virtues. You do not have just one
glorious attribute; you are equally glorious in all. This is the honor of your crown!
All your creatures should delight in your moral excellence. Certainly, it would
help keep me from being distrustful of you during “rough providences.”
Psa. 99:6 Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among them that call
upon his name; they called upon the LORD, and he answered them.
Lord, you are as accessible to me now as you were to them! They made it
their life’s work to call on you in prayer. By doing so they “brought down the
blessing.” Be true to your promises today. Answer me from the mercy seat. They
asked you for great things, and so can I! You cannot be false to your offer, for
you are holy. I praise you because I know I do not pray in vain. Amen.
