Teaching and Learning Activities:

Aunt’s Family (powerpoint)

1. Teacher shows a slide on a text of Aunt’s family.

Look at the slide. Listen to my reading.

2. Teacher reads aloud the text “Aunt’s family” powerpoint slide (refer
to 3.5 R Aunt’s family slide).

3. Teacher asks pupils to read after the teacher. Read after me.

4. Teacher checks out pupils’ reading on pronunciation.

5. Teacher asks pupils to list out the new words they have learnt the
day

before. Give 4 new words you just learnt. 1. .... 2.......3........ 4..........

Good! Again. 1. ......... 2........... 3. ........... 4........... Excellent!

6. Teacher asks one or two good pupils to read the text.

7. Teacher and pupils read the text together.

Spelling Keywords

Dragonball

Before the lesson: Teacher crumples page 8 of the Dragonball handout


(refer to 3.7 R Dragonball). Then, teacher crumples page 7 around the
crumpled page 8. Repeat the process for all the pages. Teacher uses
different coloured papers to make 2 sets of Dragonball .

1. Teacher gets pupils into groups of two and seated in a circle.


Teacher reminds pupils to follow instruction or will be out of the
group.

Group 1 sits here and Group 2 sits there. If you make any noise you
will be out of the circle.

2. Teacher starts by throwing the two Dragonballs at the same time to


both groups. The pupil who get it will peel the first layer of the
Dragonball (page 1) and the group will read the sentence aloud.

Who got the Dragonball please peel the first layer. The group, read
the sentence aloud.

3. Teacher provides support if necessary. Then, the pupil throws the
Dragonball to another friend in the group. Repeat step 2. The group
who finishes first is the winner and will get chocolate balls.

4. Teacher repeats step 2-3 to ensure that each member of the group
has equal opportunity to participate in this game.
