LONG DISTANCE EDUCATION

For several years now the Internet, the largest computer network in the

world, contributes affectively in the educational process. The advancement of

computer science and massive access to communication networks, instruction and

distance training is becoming increasingly effective and requested. Various

studies have shown that 10% of what is seen is remembered, 20% of what is heard,

50% of what is seen and heard, and 80% of what is seen, hey and does. Most

universities in the Americas and Europe have incorporated the distance education

modality with the support of new information and communication technologies.

Distance education reaches a relevant presence in the worlds educational with the

development the multimedia programs that help to the retention and learning the

information.

Distance education provides us with the possibility of using computer

technology and communications in an efficient way and thus be able to educate

and put at the service of the common people the large amount of information that

exists today. Distance education, by using communication programs, obviates the

limitations of learning through the use of these that facilitate communication when

those involved are in different places and times. Employing programs offer the

possibility of studying as a team, regardless of physical or temporal distances. The

new information and communication technologies, used in the learning process,

make it possible to pay more attention to individual differences, fostering greater

exploitation of each other's capacities. The use of this technology not only

anatomical or functional reasons. The use of technologies for learning allows to

obtain information about how students interact with the content, with the learning

materials, the interaction with the teachers, with the classmates. New

technological platforms support the exchange of information and knowledge,

these platforms serve for collaborative exchange, group work, development of

scientific topics, research, teaching and others. The programs open enormous

perspectives to human development, such as: moodle, for teaching; wiki, for group

work; blogs, for scientific, teaching and personal exchange and other supports.

The new information and communication technologies have fostered the

development of distance education, providing tools, multimedia programs that

support this process for a better retention and learning of information. Distance

education is a technological system that allows student-teacher communication

and vice versa, which is based on didactic resources and tutorial advice to achieve

a correct individual and collaborative learning, where the various studies proposes

to stimulate and enhance the retention of information, since statistically is

remembered 80% of what is seen, heard and is done. Currently, learning networks

are gaining momentum, as a space that allows the interaction of individuals with

common interests to share knowledge and ideas, encourage debate and group

work, influencing the development of professional skills.
