The Beginning
2014: participated in the #GlobalReadAloud founded by Pernille Ripp in 2010.

“One book to connect the world”

Once a year only. I needed to have ‘connected literacy’ happening ALL the time!

2015: #NZreadaloud was born. New Zealand authors writing New Zealand stories
for New Zealand kids.

2016: Many teachers asking if #NZreadaloud would go across the year levels.

Reasons for change: read it here
● I was bored!
● I had chromebooks and needed to make use of
them.
● I wanted to flatten the walls of my classroom
and get my kids connected; to learn with
others.
● Why did I have to ‘do reading’ the way it has
always been?
● Could I get more integrated learning through
reading aloud?
● Could I create reading/writing learning
experiences which were more authentic?
