3. Teacher reads the words again and pupils read aloud with teacher’s
guidance. (R2 + R3)
1. Show the power point slides of the MONTHS OF THE YEAR.ppt. (R1)
2. Ask pupils to read the months and the ordinals numbers. “Read”
3. Repeat step 2 for all the months and the ordinal numbers.
4. Ask pupils to gather at the front of the class. Model the game with
the help of one pupil.
a. Come here. (Point to the front)
b. “Look at me”. Place all cards face up on the table (R4)
c. Pick one picture card (e.g. January) and one word card (e.g.
first)
d. Show the pupils that they must match the correct picture with
its word (e.g. January picture card with the ‘first’ word card)
until all the cards are matched. “Is this the same? Match
them”
Get the volunteer to pick one picture card and find the match
(the word card). “Ali, pick one picture. Find the match”.
5. Ask pupils to work in pairs. “Find a partner. Play the game”
6. Tell pupils that they can refer to their CALENDAR or PICTURE
DICTIONARY if they do not know the answer. “If you don’t know the
answer, look at your calendar/ picture dictionary.”
7. Distribute one set of BUILDING MEMORY GAME CARDS to each pair.
8. Go to each pair to monitor them.
Arrange the months in order (Individual Work)
1. Teacher distributes the worksheets to the pupils. (R5)
3. Pupils discuss the answer with their teacher. “Have you finished?
Let’s check the answer”
2. Prompt pupils to name the festival object shown. “What can you
see? When is this?”(R7)
1. Divide the class into several groups of four. Say and sign, “One group,
four people”.
2. Paste the FESTIVAL AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS on the board. (R8)
3. Point to a picture and ask pupils to name it. “What festival is this?”
4. Praise pupils for their effort, “Excellent/Good job!”
5. Pick the word ‘National Day’ from FESTIVAL AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
WORD card.
6. Ask pupils to pronounce the word and state the date, “How do you say
this (point to picture) / When is National Day?”
7. Model by matching the word card to the correct date. “Then, you match
it”
8. Tell pupils that the fastest group to get all the words correct is the
winner. “If you finished first, say Hooray!”.
9. Provide each group with a FESTIVAL AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS PICTURE
and an envelope of FESTIVAL AND PUBLIC HOLIDAYS WORD STRIPS (R9
+ R10)
10. Tell pupils the time limit, i.e. “I’ll give you 5 minutes”.
11. Check answers using PowerPoint slide.
3. Pupils discuss the answer with their teacher. “Have you finished?
