EXTRACT FROM WARCRAFT III : REIGN OF CHAOS MANUAL:

As the aftershocks from the Well of Eternity's implosion rattled the bones of the world, the seas rushed in to
fill the gaping wound left in the earth. Nearly eighty percent of Kalimdor's landmass had been blasted apart,
leaving only a handful of separate continents surrounding the new, raging sea. At the center of the new sea,
where the Well of Eternity once stood, was a tumultuous storm of tidal fury and chaotic energies. This terrible
scar, known as the Maelstrom, would never cease its furious spinning. It would remain a constant reminder of
the terrible catastrophe... and the Utopian era that had been lost forever.

At the center of the Maelstrom is a location known as the Eye. The empires of the Makrura and the Naga lie
beneath it. The Maelstrom is a large storm in the center of the world map, where it sits between Kalimdor and the Eastern
Kingdoms.

The air above the middle tier of the Elemental Plane looks much like Azeroth's sky at first glance. A yellow sun,
immobile and persistent, hovers in the air, surrounded by drifting clouds and other, more violent storms. Birds and
much stranger creatures flit about.

Above the sun, invisible from the ground, lies the fortress of the Air Elementals. Thick stone walls, fashioned of rock
stolen from the earth below, hang suspended by permanent cyclones in the shape of pillars. Lightning and strong
winds constantly swirl about the Skywall, making natural flight in the vicinity all but impossible.

Inside the fortress, Al’Akir the Windlord holds court, ruling over his elemental kin. He enjoys watching over the rest
of the plane, travelling in the guise of a thundercloud.
The above story was from a computer game called ‘ Warcraft III’. The story is been modified to suit

our investigation as below:

Two ships one lead by Captain Pankali and the other by Captain Kanort set on a mission from Kalimdor. Both the captains had decided to

fight with the Windlord and take possession of the Skywall. They know that this can only be achieved if all the four tribes join hands in

the fight. Kalimdor was a Fire Tribe while Pandaria, a Water Tribe, Northerend was an Air Tribe and Eastern Kingdom was an Earth tribe.

Captain Pankali travelled to Pandoria while Captain Kanort set sail towards Northerend. Each travelled at the same speed of 40 km /hr.

How long will it take for them

both to reach their destinations?

At Pandaria, Captain Pankali met the chief of Water Tribe, Captain Wataria while at Northerend, Captain Kanort met the chief of Air

Tribe, Lady Aeroth and explained their mission. All of them agreed that the Windlord had to be captured and the Skywall should be

conquered. They also decided that all of them first travel to the Eastern Kingdom, where Earth Tribes live. They have heard a lot about

the Earth Tribes that they are the most intelligent people of all the four tribes and they were always upto some invention or the other.
Hence, all agreed to immediately start their journey towards the Eastern Kingdoms. There, they would meet the chief, Lord Z’Estear who

would later join them on their mission.

Did they have any meeting point before

they reached Earthern Kingdom? What
were the paths they took?

The two ships still maintain the same speed of 40 km/hr. As they could not go in a curve path, they had to change their bearing to reach Eastern
Kingdoms.

How many times were the bearing changed to reach the

island without touching the smaller islands in between.

During this tiresome journey both the crew were wondering how good it would have been if they did not have to change the bearing but just fly on air
from Northerend and Pandoria directly to the Eastern Islands.

What would have been the advantages of having such a

machine that would have taken them on air on a straight
line from the two islands?
On reaching the Eastern Kingdom, all four tribes had a long meeting to decide about the strategy that would be used to reach Deepholm and conquer
the Skywall. They were all aware that the four elemental tribes need to work together in order to bring peace to the world and maintain its balance.

Lord Z’Estear showed them their latest invention which looked like a huge bird. He said it could fly on the sky carrying 30 people at a time. At first the
other three tribes’ Captains did not believe it but they soon realised the truth when the Human Bird ( for that’s what they had named it) actually took
off into the air with 30 soldiers in it.

They started their journey towards the Fortress where the Windlord ruled and controlled the four elements of the world. The initial speed of the Human
Bird was 65 km/hr and they travelled on air towards West where the fortress was located.

The moment they touched the Circle of Doom, the Human Bird faced a huge thunder storm and could not proceed further. The ‘ man on the wheels’
tried his level best but the Bird started drifting away from its destination. Now it was travelling at a bearing of 2000 and its speed reduced to 50km/hr.

After travelling in this direction for half an hour, they were able to change the direction of the Human Bird towards the Eye. Now, they increased the
speed of the Human Bird to 80 km/ hr in order to tackle the heavy storm and reach the Eye. This was the last leg of their journey!!!

What would the paths look like? Will they

make any shape?

And to their surprise ( and disappointment!) they were received by the Windlord with warm smile as he had now developed a great respect to the four
tribes knowing how much effort they had taken to save the world. He ordered the Maelstorm to seize and the sea went quiet! The big fortress vanished
and the Eye could no more be seen. At that moment, people from all the four islands could see a big firework on the sky just above the centre of the
Maelstorm.
Was it that high? Was
it possible to see it
from the islands??
