Energy is considered as one of the most vital resources on the planet. There are many
sources of energy including renewable and non renewable resources. However, over consumption
of energy in the MENA region became a severe problem which should be reduced. The Middle
East remains the largest oil producing region, making up around one third of the world’s oil.
According to BP In 2035, the MENA regions will contributes almost 8%to global energy
consumption, although they makes up 4% of the globe population. This means, that the energy
consumption will rise by almost 50% by 2035. There are few studies regarding the causes of
Several studies were conducted in the field of energy economics were on the relationship
between Consumption of Energy and Economic growth. According to Sadorksy the middle eastern
countries have seen a significant economy enlargement during the past decade which led to
increase in energy demand. Statistics by IEA in have seen losses in Energy In Egypt 20389GWh
and 135018GWh Losses in Energy in the MENA region in 2015. This means that over 40% of
Topcu (2016) has discussed the Effect of Urbanization on Energy Demand in the Middle
East.Urbanization, closely related to economic development and industrialization, has then started
to become one of the driving forces for energy demand. Belloumi and Alshehry (2016) introduced
that the effect of urbanization on Energy consumption has both pros and cons on the globe, That is
mainly due to urbanization leads to expansion and enlargement in the globe economy, by
increasing the production and income, which will definitely leads to rocketing energy consumption.
One the other side, it could create economies which could lead to a rise in energy efficiency.
Topcu(2016) finds that there is a positive correlation between the Urbanization and Energy
consumption.
Perry Sadorsky (2011) discussed the affect trade on energy contemplation. She studied
energy consumption in eight middle eastern countries covering the period of 1980 to 2007. The
results of the study illustrates that the increase in trading affects the Energy demand in the MENA
