MANYANDA GWISU, LEMA, JEROME, REGAN SLAA, SALUM MAYILA, FALCAO
SALEEwho help me to assemble the parts and gave suggestion about the task “TOURIST
INFORMATION SYSTEM NAME. Last but not least, many thanks go to the head of the
project, CENTER OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY.Whose have invested his full effort
in guiding the team in achieving the goal. I have to appreciate the guidance given by other
supervisor as well as the panels especially in our project presentation that has improved our
presentation skills thanks to their comment and advices.
DEDICATION

1.0 INTRODUCTION
The rise of the web over the last few years led Companies and organization to try to make use
of web for many different activities. Tourism is the most important business activity in our
country. To improve the business information technology simplify to establish web presence
(information system) which shall be visited by thousands of visitors every day, offering e-
commerce opportunities for tourism transactions.
1.1BACKGROUND

Swirls of opaque mist hide the advancing dawn. The first shafts of sun colour the fluffy grass
heads rippling across the plain in a russet halo. A herd of zebras, confident in their
camouflage at this predatory hour, pose like ballerinas, heads aligned and stripes merging in
flowing motion.

Mikumi National Park abuts the northern border of Africa's biggest game reserve - the Selous
– and is transected by the surfaced road between Dar es Salaam and Iringa. It is thus the most
accessible part of a 75,000 square kilometre (47,000 square mile) tract of wilderness that
stretches east almost as far as the Indian Ocean.

The open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain, the popular centrepiece of
Mikumi, draw frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti Plains.

Lions survey their grassy kingdom – and the zebra, wildebeest, impala and buffalo herds that
migrate across it – from the flattened tops of termite mounds, or sometimes, during the rains,
from perches high in the trees. Giraffes forage in the isolated acacia stands that fringe the
Mkata River, islets of shade favoured also by Mikumi's elephants.

Criss-crossed by a good circuit of game-viewing roads, the Mkata Floodplain is perhaps the
most reliable place in Tanzania for sightings of the powerful eland, the world’s largest
antelope. The equally impressive greater kudu and sable antelope haunt the miombo-covered
foothills of the mountains that rise from the park’s borders.

More than 400 bird species have been recorded, with such colourful common residents as the
lilac-breasted roller, yellow-throated longclaw and bateleur eagle joined by a host of
European migrants during the rainy season. Hippos are the star attraction of the pair of pools
situated 5km north of the main entrance gate, supported by an ever-changing cast of
waterbirds

1.2 STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

Tourist world over are always ready to look at new destination, but the problem is that most
of times end up of being disappointed after visiting some sites, This is as a result of
misinformation lack of planning by site managers most at times

A tourist needs to have full information on what he/she should expect at the destination, Also
a tourist needs to have a tour guide that will help him/her navigate around the destination of
Choice.
1.3 0BJECTIVES

An objective is something you plan to achieve.

A military objective is the overall plan for a mission. The objective for a bake sale is to raise
money. If your objective is to learn a new word, you have succeeded.

1.3.1 MAIN OBJECTIVE

The solution of the problem is to develop system known as Tourism Information System
(TIS) that shall offer Tourist explore new destination and views full information for the area
needs to visit.

1.3.2 SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES

Designing and implement database so that all information shall be stored for example Tourist
information.

Collect and analyze user requirement

Designing User interface that shall manage user to see different information

Example:

.
1.4 SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

Tourism information system (TIS) will be a web based system aimed for improving tourism
activity in our country; TIS will offer the tourist by giving destination and will promote
tourism activity too many visitors in the world. Also the system shall enable the
visitors/tourist to register and enable them to find the area to visits (Tour), the system shall be
accessed in Mobile phone and to personal computers also tourism information need internet
connection.

1.5 LIMITATION OF THE PROJECT

As the World Wide Web’s infrastructure, scale and impact have grown, Internet users are
Increasingly in need of more powerful technologies capable of collecting, interpreting
and integrating the vast amount of heterogeneous information available on the Web. This
Heterogeneity stems from the fundamental disparity of Web domains. In the tourism
Industry for example, there are numerous Web portals containing vast amounts of
Information about accommodation, transportation, entertainment, and insurance. Most of
the information on the Web is presented as natural-language text with occasional pictures
and graphics.

2.0 LITERATURE REVIEW

A literature review is an evaluative report of information found in the literature related to your
selected area of study.

TIS as system deals with information we decide to take Ngorongoro National Park as sample (related
work) which consist of Tourist information system. Ngorongoro has a section of TIS which deals with
controlling information for all employees within the office and doing it for each branch.

NgoroNgoro Information Center in Arusha

An information center for the Northern circuit is located along Boma Road in downtown
Arusha. The Center provides detailed information on tourist attractions, facilities and
activities available in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Most safaris depart from Arusha
town and the information center is a must for visitors. Internet facilities are available.
Promotional publications, wildlife books, cards, audio cassettes and CD-ROMs are also
available. With the results of the research, it is possible to give valuable insights about the
importance of using TIS and the satisfaction level of TIS employees from this system. There is a lack
of empirical study in the related literature. By considering the need of empirical studies in this field,
it is obvious that both the theoretical and empirical results of this research will give an important
contribution to the related literature.
3.0 METHODOLOGIES

3.1MODEL OF THE SYSTEM

According to the system which I implemented am using a waterfall model because its so
suitable for my TOURIST INFORMATION SYSTEM
