Question :

What best way to implement pre assessment task to students with low language
proficiency as a part of professional skill for teachers?

This question is suitable and parallel with the objective/s of IB as it tries to


comprehend the best solution for the need of students with low achievers.

The action taken :

Identify the students through pre assessment and group them according to the result. The
teacher prepares a number of tests which caters the different level of students instead of
giving the whole class with the same tests. The reason is to give motivation to students
with different proficiency level chances to coop with the lesson.

The teacher has proven that each student has the ability to learn if they are given a
chance whether in learning stage or in assessment level. However this action can be
improved if the teacher would keep some sort of a record based on the students’
achievement to see if there are any improvement or not.

Reflection
What did you learn about your assessment practices that you did not know?

Assessment is not only about tests but it also involves emotions and motivation which
could affect students’ performances. Every assessment task given must be suitable to
students so that they would have some chances to improve and upgrade their learning
abilities.

In what ways did giving constructive feedback to your colleague help you with your
understanding of assessment?

The constructive feedback helps me to open up any possibilities in achieving set target.
By giving the feedback I know that there are rooms for improvement corrections to make
the assessment meaningful and valid. It also helps me to know how to cater with different
level students, providing them with ample assessments.
