Reading: ​Metacognition! Meta..what? Metacognition is thinking about your thinking. We 
will use this during our ‘real reading’ activities and mini lessons.  

Reading + Thinking = Real Reading  

Phonics: ​3-letter miscellaneous blends (scr-, shr-, spl-, squ-, str-) 

Writing​: Creating posters to display the information we have gathered about our given 
topic. 

Grammar: ​Questioning sentences. Sentences that need a response. 

Math: ​Comparing large, non-decade numbers, adding two digit and one digit numbers. 

Social Studies/Science: ​Economics! 

Other news: 

● NGFA Carnival: ​First grade is collecting for the following theme baskets: 

Lego​- ( Lego sets, Lego books, Lego stickers) 

Baking with kids​ (Cookie, brownie, cake mixes, cookie cutters, baking supplies) 

● Star of the day: ​The star of the day will still be bringing in their favorite stuffed animal 
to show the class. 
● Anchored in Excellence:​ We will be having a kickoff assembly for a rewards system for 
positive behavior! If you look into our room or other classrooms around the building 
you will see our behavior expectations matrix that has been taught to all students.
