Dear Friend,
Greetings to you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, from everyone at
our church! We are standing on the threshold of a new year. The past is past and the
future lays before us. Some say the possibilities before us are endless! Through
Christ Jesus, we are accepted in Him by His amazing grace and abundant mercy. I
can look forward with hope or I can be discouraged with dread. That does not have
to be, for greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world! Your trials and
tribulations are not forever. The Scripture says, "Weeping may endure for a night,
but joy cometh in the morning" (Psalm 30:5). A lot of things may endure in your
life, but through God we shall have joy and gladness, for He is in control!
I read a beautiful verse of Scripture the other day. Isaiah 41:10 says, "Fear
thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will
strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand
of My righteousness." Isn't it marvelous to think that the Lord is our God and that
He is interested in helping each one of us? He has a personal interest in your life and
mine. He cares about you. Situations may not be the best, but He is the best! The
things you face today may seem like they will never stop hounding you, but He said,
"Be not dismayed; for I am thy God." When all strength is gone, Jesus is our
strength. When help seems so far away, the Lord said He would help you! When
your steps begin to falter and fail, whether physically, morally, or spiritually, the
Lord said He would uphold you with the right hand of His righteousness. We can
trust in Him who never fails! Isn't it great to know we have a God who is interested
in us and involved in our needs and is ready to help us and encourage us? I think so!
This chapter in Isaiah is interesting to me because in the verses before this one,
the prophet spoke of people encouraging one another and helping one another. That's
good. But as you well know, sometimes in life even our closest friends, family, and
associates may want to be there for you but the limitations of the flesh do not allow
that. And if you are in a need, what will you do then? What if you're alone? Are you
totally forsaken? NO!!! He said, "Fear thou not; for I am with thee!" Think of it
for a moment...Almighty God is telling us through the prophet that He is with us.
That's what He said. I can rest on those words. I know He is watching over me.
When anxiety gets a hold on my heart, I look to the Word of God and find comfort
and strength. When hopelessness begins to rattle my cage and makes me fearful, He
tells me not to fear, for He is there! I know it is God working in us to bring forth His
life, which is full of love, joy, and peace. Jesus said, "Come unto Me, all ye that
labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Now,
where I come from the word "all" means everyone, including YOU! Jesus bids us to
come unto Him, despite us being heavy laden and full of laboring. Why? Because
He cares. "Casting all you care upon Him; for He careth for you" (I Peter 5:7).
Nothing is too difficult for the Lord to handle. That loved one you are upset about is
not too far away from God's care. That situation that seems dreadful today will be
remedied when the Lord is lifted up in your life. Magnify Him and everything else
will be diminished. Look to him this year every day and He will bring you through
to victory! He understands the very thoughts of your heart. He knows when you just
feel broken inside and not know how to fix it. Let me assure you, that Jesus came for
that very reason. When He began His earthly ministry, he set forth the reason for His
ministry, in Luke 4: 18 & 19, which says, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
because He hath anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He hath sent
Me to heal the broken-hearted..." Are you crushed under the weight of things that
are totally our of your control? Is your heart broken due to loss of a loved one, or a
job, or some other reason? He was anointed to come to you and heal you and make
you whole again. A dear brother came to our church once and told the story of when
he was young he was a runner in high school. His father, a master watch maker, gave
him a beautiful watch so he could time himself and get better. A friend borrowed it
one day and broke the watch by mistake. This brother was heart-broken but was
afraid to bring his watch back to his father to fix it. The father could have fixed it,
for he knew how. But it was never put in his hands to do it. It was left in a box for
years. As he told the story to a group of teen-agers, he took the broken watch out of
the box it was in. It was still broken: a reminder of the mistake of not bringing it to
his father. Jesus can fix what is broken in your life if you will give him all the pieces.
He knows how! Bring Him all the pieces of your life today. You will never be the
same. Several asked for prayer that day because even as young as they were, they
felt broken by life. Don't stay away from our Heavenly Father. He loves you!
From everyone at our church, we wish you a very happy, healthy, and
prosperous New Year! I invite you to attend any of our services. We meet at 624
Torringford West Street in Torrington, CT, Sunday at 10 AM and 7 PM, and
Wednesday at 7:30 PM. May God bless you and please remember that we are
praying for you!
Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
