The instructions fo r adjusting the hydraulic system are separated into three groups.
G roup 1 s e ttin g s -A d ju s tm e n ts to the selectamatic control valve.
Group 2 s e ttin g s -A d ju s tm e n ts to the selectamatic control valve on the ramshaft bracket.
G roup 3 s e ttin g s -T ra c to r adjustments.

The table below shows which adjustm ents are necessary according to the type o f repair w ork done.

HYDRAULICS GROUP 1 SETTINGS

GROUP 1 SETTINGS-ADJUSTMENTS TO THE


SELECTAMATIC CONTROL VALVE
A . A D J U S T IN G THE SPO O L
VA LVE

1. Put soft metal covers A over the hard jaws of 3. Carefully hold the selectamatic valve body

the spool fu lly inward against the pressure

2. Make a note of the dim ension on the end of
the spool B. This dim ension is the required
m ovem ent o f the spool.
4. Put a dial gauge D into the position shown.
The probe o f the dial gauge m ust be hori­
zontal and pushing against the sm ooth face
o f the spool. Make sure that the probe does
not touch the centre hole in the spool. Adjust
the dial gauge so that the pointer is at zero.
Let the spring fo r the spool valve slow ly
push the spool out tow ard the dial gauge.
Make a note o f the m ovem ent of the pointer.

5. Compare the pointer m ovem ent w ith the


dim ension given on the spool. If the pointer
m ovem ent is m ore than the given dim en­
sion, tighten the nuts D on the end of the
spool. If the pointer m ovem ent is less,
loosen the nuts. Repeat the operation until
the p ointer m ovem ent is no more than
0.025mm greater than the given dim ension.
The p ointer m ovem ent m ust never be less
than the given dim ension.

4. Loosen the tw o nuts G. Put a punch H into


the hole in the edge of the ramshaft cam J.
Use the punch to turn the ramshaft cam until
the roller K is seated in the notch. Carefully
tighten the tw o nuts to a torque of 9Nm.

5. Look at the cork gasket. If it is damaged fit a


new gasket then install the cover. Tighten
the setscrews. Remove the blocks from the
low er links if used.

1. Select POSITION on the selector dial A.

lo w e r links but not on the top link. The sensing
u n it m ust not be in tension or compression.

3. Move the select stop until it just makes con­


tact w ith the linkage control lever F. Tighten
the nut B then release the linkage control
lever.

4. Turn the locknut D clockwise until it alm ost


touches the adjuster E. Turn the adjuster
counter-clockwise until the cable is free at
the bracket F.

7. Turn the adjuster E clockwise until the link­


age ju st starts to lower. Turn the adjuster 5%
re vo lutio n s counter-clockwise on 1290,
1390, 1490 and 1690 tractors or 9'A revo­
lu tio ns on 1190 tractors. Hold the adjuster in
this position then tu rn the lock-nut D
counter-clockw ise until it is against the
cable support H.

8. Low er the linkage. Remove the weights. Fit
