Greeting from us!

We are the committee of the Forth Regional Nature School

Gymboree (Jamboree Sekolah Alam IV). This year, we are
pleased to announce that Surabaya will be host of Jamboree
Sekolah Alam IV. We, the faculty of Sekolah Alam Insan Mulia
Surabaya, located at Semampir Indah No. 99-101 Surabaya,
proudly become the event organizer of this grand event.

We invite companies; organizations in Indonesia and overseas;

individuals and communities; to take part in this event.
Participants are welcome to contribute as panelists, sponsors,
and information agents.

EVENT BACKGROUND

Regional Jamboree Sekolah Alam is a biennial agenda, which

function as both, a public space to share information about
education world and a training event to improve the quality of
education in Indonesia. The first Jamboree was held in
Lembang-Bandung, West Java in 2011, which was followed by
40 schools throughout Indonesia. JSAN I was designed to
become a learning forum to gain knowledge of creativity and
learning media from recycled materials.

JSAN II was held in Bogor-West Java, 2013. It brought together

50 nature schools (Sekolah Alam) to the event. JSAN II focused
on environmental issues. Together with other organizations
that shared the same concern, the event was able to take
concrete actions to create better environment.

JSAN III was held in Lampung, 2015. It brought together 53

schools to the event. JSAN III focused on maritime issues and
event organizing skills training. Due to the rapid growth of
nature school network, JSAN IV is then organized as a public
forum to develop and promote solutions for education
continuity in Indonesia. The parallel development signifies the
increasing interest and involvement of the people in improving
the education quality in our country. We plan to give more
space for people and encourage them to be involved in mental
revolution by implementing the suitable education system in
Indonesia.

EVENT CONCEPT

JSAN IV will be held on 13-15 October 2017 to create public

sharing room that is going to discuss about national education
system in Indonesia. A big community, rich in knowledge,
science, creativity, and innovations, moves together to achieve
one common goal, “Becoming Schools that Bring Mercy to All
Creation”. Jamboree Sekolah Alam is a biennial event that is
conducted to evaluate education system and formulate new
innovation in national education for better future of our next
generation.

The forth JSAN creates an opportunity for participants to

debate and discuss; exchange experiences and knowledge; as
well as to build and expand network with leaders and
organizations that deal with important education issues
throughout the country.

OBJECTIVE

The objective of the event is to offer a child-friendly education

system that appreciates the uniqueness and the variety of
student potentials, a school that complies with the needs of the
people and the country. This event gives an opportunity to
connect with people from different lines of work, who take an
interest in education. Jamboree aims to promote awareness of
education issues, improve understanding of current practices of
education and encourage collaboration. Together, the
government and the civil society communities can develop a
common vision, which is to find a ways to overcome challenges
that will have an effect on the future of our education.

TIME SCHEDULE

This event will be held starting from 13 October until 15

October, 2017. There will be panels, workshops, exhibitions,
and activities including music and entertainment. The full-day
panel will run in parallel session format. There will be various
selections of interesting panel themes for participants to
choose from, so each person can decide on the topics that are
most suitable and relatable to their interest and area of work.
There will also be an EXHIBITION that is going to feature the
work and creation of the students, faculty, and alumni of
Sekolah Alam in Indonesia.

PARTICIPANT
We open our parallel discussions for public, with quota up to
1000 persons from Indonesia and overseas. The Jamboree
participants from sekolah alam can register by sending at least
two delegates from each school. Sekolah Alam Insan Mulia will
involve students, parents, and colleagues to participate in this
event by assigning different roles and responsibilities.

PUBLICATION

This event is going to be published by radio, newspapers, and

national and local television stations, such as Jawa Pos, Surya,
Surabaya Post, Radar Surabaya, Metro TV, JTV, SBO, and other
local media in Surabaya.

EDUCATIONAL SEMINAR PANEL

Saturday, 14 October 2017, 7 a.m.– 4 p.m.

Panel seminars are open for both national and international

public who are interested in sharing experiences, being
involved in discussions, and formulating solutions for education
problems in Indonesia. We can access panels’ information at:
jsan.or.id/jambore. For participate registration will start on 1st,
April 2017.
ART PERFORMANCE

Sunday, 15 October 2017, 7 p.m. – 10 p.m.

On this day, each school is going to present art performance

that represents the unique local characteristics of their school.
Art Performance may be presented by Jamboree participant(s)
or appointed school representative(s). The committee will
invite local artist(s) who shares the same concerns for
environmental issues.

EXHIBITION

Sunday, 15 October 2017, 7 a.m. – 10 p.m.

The exhibition aims to feature the best work, innovations in

learning process, ideas, or art work of the students and faculty
of nature schools in Sekolah Alam network. The exhibition is
open for public. We hope this exhibition will be able to inspire
the visitors and other attendees to work on their own creative
ideas and innovations, as well as to show that anyone can
contribute and participate in the exhibition.

SURABAYA ADVENTURE

This activity aims to build teachers’ perspective about available

resources around the school. In this activity, jamboree
participants will practice to read Surabaya map. Going around
the city is a fun way to connect with our environment,
especially for children who are living in the big cities.

We are going divide the participants in five groups. In their

group, they will work together to find information, read the
map, and finally write a story of their journey. Throughout the
adventure, they will come across and mark their visit to many
historical buildings, traditional food stalls, and worship places.

The stories of the participants are going to be put together and

made into a travel book. This travel book will be presented to
Surabaya municipal. We hope the book can be useful to help
tourists in their travel in Surabaya.
