Enjoying the learning

This week is the mid-term preparation, so I planned to do a review about logarithm and exponential
in my lesson. In order to make the class more excited, I made a game using Kahoot. In that game, I divided
them into pair and they have to answer 20 questions with their handphone. Most of students were so
enthusiastic to solve the problem. Kahoot is an educational apps for teacher to make quiz in more interesting
way. My students look so competitive to answer all the question. The winner of the games was determined
by their correct answer and their time to solve the problems. The faster they solved the problems correctly,
the points will be higher.

Educational games are really important nowadays. Students are facing a new era in education;
internet, gadget, and other sophisticated things in their daily life. As a teacher, I need to take these
advantages to help them learn better so that they are not bored in my class. The fact is I always do paper
based test in my class for post-test or unit-test. Based on my experience and observation, paper based test
tends to make students nervous and eventually they will not be able to solve the problems. Then, I decided
to make a game using Kahoot. This is school also encourages all the teachers to be a teacher that has 21st
century skills in learning process.

Research has shown that when people learn somethings that really interesting they will understand
better. In my case, most of students are able to solve the problems. Additionally, In the midst of transition
from one question to another, I discuss how to solve the problems so that if some students do not understand,
they will know how to solve the problems. I am really happy to see my students excited to learn mathematics
not because they can answer all question but because they can enjoy learn mathematics. Teaching
mathematics for social classes is really interesting experience. I know their difficulties to understand simple
topic, but if they can enjoy in my class I think that is enough for me.

As a Christian teacher, realized that helping students to enjoy the material is really important. As a
teacher, sometimes I ignore what my students feel during the lesson. I was so focused delivering the material
without understanding their feeling. I believe that through process of learning I will be able to manage the
class better and make the class more enjoyable for students. For the next meeting, I decided to use Kahoot
and others application that support my learning.
