I. Objectives
The learners should be able to:
a. Enumerate and explain the characteristics of sound.
b. Describe the speed of the sound when it travels on the three different medium such as
solid, liquid, and gas.
c. Characterize the three types of measuring sound waves such as wavelength, amplitude,
and frequency.
SOUND
- Vibration that travels through different medium such as solid, liquid, and gas.
- It is a mechanical wave
- Has two different types:
Longitudinal- direction of propagation of waves.
- Longitudinal has two parts:
Compression- produces compression on the medium through which it is transmitted.
Rarefaction- reduction of a medium’s density and it opposite of compression.
Transverse- wave vibrating at right angles to the direction of its propagation
B. Materials:
- Basin - Wood/table wood
- Water - chalk
- Bell

B. Engage
- Teacher will use materials and demonstrate the speed of travelling of sound
C. Explore
- The teacher will ask question to the students.
If the sound will travels on a wood, would the sound be faster than the sound if it travels on
water?
D. Explain
- The teacher will explain the three types of media according to the activity.
E. Elaborate
- The teacher will discuss the sound and the three types of measuring of sound.
- F. Evaluation
F. Evaluation
- The teacher will ask the students to get their quiz notebook and answer the ff:
