I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the 48-minute discussion, the students should be expected to:
familiar with the usage and functions of the six verb tenses (Simple Tenses and Progressive
Tenses);
identify the appropriate verb tense to be used in the sentences provided; and,
formulate sentences containing verb tenses
III. PROCEDURE
A. Motivation
Simulation Game:
The teacher will greet the students and ask them if they have taken their breakfast/snacks.
The teacher will then group the students into four teams: The Flash, The Green Lantern, The
Wonderwoman and The Superman.
The students will be given words inside the box drawn onto the board, and they will arrange those
words under the category of time: Present, Past and Future; and under the category of frequency:
Before, Sometimes, Always, On Going, and Sooner.

The teacher will relate the motivational activity to the introduction of the topic
The teacher will recall the knowledge of the students about the verb tenses
The teacher will post a manila paper on the board containing the functions of different verb tenses
C. Analysis
What is the functional similarity between simple past and past progressive? In what way are they
different?
What are the differences between simple present and present progressive tense?
D. Abstraction
The students will be tasked to write a three-sentence reflection on the importance of Verb Tenses.
Their written composition must also contain verb tenses.
E. Practices
The students will be given exercises and ask them to answer on the board the proper verb tense to
be used in the sentences provided.
