Recommendation for Diana Stanley

December 22,20L7

I am pleased to recommend Ms. Diana Stanley to you as a K-B teacher. She completed her
student teaching experience during the Fall Semester, 2017 in a Znd grade classroom at
Russian fack Elementary School, Anchorage, Alaska, under the supervision of host teacher
Tina Lynch. As her university supervisor, I visited Diana's classroom on a weekly basis.
Diana \\'as responsible for planning, teaching and assessment for 6 n'eeks and she -,'.'as able
to teach in all content areas during this time. She is now qualified to receive her Aiaska
Initial Teaching Certificate with endorsement K-8.

Diana met all and exceeded many of the Alaska Beginning Teacher Expectations during her
certification program. She will be able to share with you a professional portfolio of artifacts
that highlight these accomplishments, including her ability to plan, teach and evaluate
curriculum (a backward design unit), and her ability to use data to improve student
performance [a teacher work sample). Diana is concurrently completing a master's degree
at Alaska Pacific University in Outdoor and Environmental Education.

Diana was an outstanding student teacher in every way, This second grade in a Title I School
was large; crowding the room with desks and tables everywhere. The children had many
needs that Diana and her host teacher worked ceaselessly to meet. Diana learned the
district-mandated curriculum in math and literacy, and also found time to create interesting
units and activities related to the outdoors and science. She brought the children out into
the community when possible, and integrated music fshe has a lovely singing voice) and art
into many lessons. She did a great job with managing the routines and behaviors of these
very active, demanding children.

I have loved workingwith Diana. She is such a positive and talented person. She was always
cheerful and upbeat in the classroom, Intellecluallv she is t'er1,' quick. She has a deep
commrrment to pro\-rding qualiq educairon for ail stuilenG, anci to eilucatrng the;oung
about environmental concerns.

Diana Stanley has completed a rigorous graduate teacher preparation program. She will
make a welcome and willing addition to any school faculty, and I expect her to be a school
leader soon. I would be happy to offer further information if you wish to contact me at (907J
