Question and Answer Transcripts

How does one know that he or she is stopping the power of the anointing in his life?

Question – Good day Sir! Over the years, I have been blessed through your teachings of the word of
God. In one of your messages titled “An understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ”, you said one
can short circuit the grace or anointing in his life and it bothers me. Please, explain how one will
know that he or she is stopping the power of the anointing in his life.

Answer: I think the answer would have also been in the message itself. I think it’s there if you listen
properly. Unbelief! Unbelief short circuits the power of God. So, faith is required. With unbelief, the
power of God won’t work for you if you are unbelieving. Fear will short circuit the power of God
from working on your life. And so, that’s it really! Anything that God says you shouldn’t do and you
are doing it is going to give you trouble.

How can one continually experience the anointing?

Question –: Pastor, thank you for this great opportunity. My question is what does one need to do to
be continually filled with the anointing, especially after a service or any meeting, because most times
when I am in such meetings, I feel the anointing so strong, but the moment I leave it’s like it reduces.

Answer: Well, that’s to tell you, you’ve got a responsibility in this. If you study in Ephesians chapter 5
verse 18, it says: “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;” and in
the next verse, it tells us what to do to be filled with the spirit continually. Now, I’ll give you that as
homework; I’ll give it to you and you’ll just meditate and practice exactly what it says. Ephesians
5:18-21: “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to
yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the
Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.”

Now, we have a teaching on this, and you can place your order for the message “Be Filled With the
Spirit.” What we’re teaching there is that you can be continually filled with the spirit, everyday. So,
this wouldn’t stop in the meetings, it would go with you everywhere. It’s a life we’re called to live.
Actually, that verse I quoted to you really says “…be being filled with the Spirit.” That’s the literal
meaning, which means it should be an unending experience.

Question 1 on The Working of the Anointing

Question 1 –: Dear Pastor, I’ve been so blessed by your teachings and exposition online. They’ve
really grounded my understanding of the Word. I wish to ask how the anointing works; what does it
take to function in the anointing and get expected results?

Answer 1: Well, the first thing is to understand what the anointing really is. The anointing is
translated from a word, beginning from the Old Testament [in Hebrew] that means ‘to rub’ – like
you’d rub oil on your body or cream on your body. It means to rub, primarily, and it denotes that the
presence of God is rubbed on a man. That’s how it came to be [and]; that’s why in the New
Testament, you don’t have so much emphasis on that word itself but you have the emphasis on the
spirit of God, the power of God, and so on. So, it actually comes from the idea that the presence of
God is ‘rubbed-of’ on a man. And so, over in the New Testament, that power – that spirit – that was
rubbed on a man came to live inside. So, today, the Holy Spirit actually lives in you. So, when we talk
about the anointing, we’re now talking about the power of God that is resident in you and then the
power of God or the spirit of God that gives ability to the office into which he calls you or into
anything that he calls you to do.

Now, understanding that as the anointing of God, the next thing is a realization that that comes
through the acquaintance that we have with the Holy Spirit. Since the Holy Spirit is the one that
gives the power, He’s the one that gives the enablement – the inspiration – it means our
acquaintance with Him is really the secret. Always, the power of God will come on you to equip you
for whatever He wants you to do. See, when God calls a man and sends him to do anything, it’s
God’s responsibility to give that man all that he requires. So, you never need to wonder or worry
about “Do I have the anointing to do this? Do I have the anointing to do this?” You have the right
question when you say, “What Am I Supposed to Do?” because whatever it is you’re supposed to do,
the power of the Holy Spirit has been made available to you or will be made available to you when it
becomes necessary to do whatever it is God wants you to do.

The other thing is to meditate on the Word of God; you’ve got to meditate on the Word. See, the
Holy Spirit brings to pass God’s word. The Holy Spirit inspires us in God’s word – to know it, to live by
it and to use it. And, the Holy Spirit helps us, not only to understand it but to function in it, in such a
way that we are carriers of His message. So, our acquaintance with the Holy Spirit or our
acquaintance with the Word of God is necessary for us to function in the will of God through the
Holy Spirit. So, whatever the Holy Spirit wants you to do, whatever life He wants you to live, you can
only function thoroughly in it by your acquaintance with the Word of God. So, you’ve got to
meditate continually on the Word.

The other thing is prayer. Prayer helps us to subject our spirits to the Holy Spirit. Prayer helps us to
have ourselves mingled with the thoughts of God – our minds become united with his thinking.
Especially when you meditate on the Word, your prayer life becomes meaningful. So, prayer is
important. So, in that way you’ll find yourself living in God’s word and living by the Holy Spirit, and
that’s the way the anointing of God works in you.

What is the benchmark for defining sin?

Question –: Dear Pastor Chris, biblically, what is the benchmark for the definition of sin?

Answer: I’ve taught in good detail on this subject and the title is “The Concept of Sin” and I’ll ask you
to get the tapes or ask for the CDs, audio CDs or DVDs. They’ll be of immense benefit to you; all the
details are in there, and you can study more about sin and what the Bible really says it is. The title is
“The Concept of Sin.”

But, I’ll just give you a little idea of what this is, and that will begin to help your personal study. I’ll
read you a few scriptures. The first one will be from Romans chapter 14. In discussing what to eat
and what not to eat and whether eating food made for idols was right or wrong and so on, Paul
made a conclusive statement that is very enlightening: “And he that doubteth is damned if he eat,
because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin” [Romans 14:23].

Now, that’s the first thing you have to understand because we walk by faith, not by sight. 2
Corinthians 5:7 tells us “…we walk by faith, not by sight”. The Bible says in Romans 9:8 that those
who are the children of the flesh [which means the children of the senses] are not the children of
God. Those who are the children of God are the children of faith. The Bible says that we are the
children of faith because we are the children of faithful Abraham. So, we walk by faith.

The bible says “Without faith it is impossible to please God” [Hebrews 11:6]. That tells you how
important faith is–-without it, it is impossible to please God. You can’t please Him without faith, no
matter what you do. So, you need faith and faith is encapsulated in the gospel. When you hear the
gospel of Jesus Christ, faith comes with it. When you accept the gospel, faith is automatically
imparted to your spirit from day-one that you gave your life to Christ. That’s what the bible tells us in
Romans chapter 12, when you read from verse 3: “…God hath dealt to everyone the measure of
faith” [Romans 12:3]. It’s that seed of faith that’s in the gospel. So, that’s the first thing you need to
know: that anything that is not of faith is sin. That establishes it. So, in your walk with God, you
must walk with Him by faith because whatever you do outside of faith, God says it’s sin.

The second thing, you’d learn from the next scriptures I’ll read to you. Romans Chapter 13,
beginning with verse 8: “Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another
hath fulfilled the law” [Romans 13:8]. He that loves another hath fulfilled the law. Now, he’s talking
about the law God gave to Moses–the cardinal law of God. That’s what he’s looking at. Then he goes
on in verse 9 to say: “For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not
steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other
commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as
thyself” [Romans 13:9]. Then in verse 10, he says “Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore
love is the fulfilling of the law” [Romans 13:10]. Love is the fulfilling of the law.

So, there are going to be two things to look at here: fulfilling the law or transgressing the law. You’re
either fulfilling the law or you’re transgressing the law. So, he says if you walk in love, you fulfill the
law. Alright, let me read to you from the 1st epistle of St. John Chapter 3 in verse 4: “Whosoever
committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law” [1 John 3:4]. Now
that’s pretty simple: if love is the fulfilling of the law, it means to “not-walk-in-love” is the
transgressing of the law. If you don’t walk in love, you transgress the law. Love is the fulfilling of the
law and the opposite of love is selfishness. So, he says “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth
also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law” [1 John 3:4]. The statement he just made is
based on the principle. He says “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for [which
means because] sin is the transgression of the law” [1 John 3:4]. So, that’s a principle like he gave us
a principle that we read earlier, that whatsoever is not faith is sin. And now he says sin is defined as
the transgression of the law and love is the fulfilling of the law.

So, if you don’t walk in love, you transgress the law. If you want to know the benchmark for sin–how
do you measure sin? How do you know when your act is an act of sin? Or your thought is a thought
of sin? Two things: one, is it by faith in God, his Word? Does it fulfill the requirements of love? Which
means is it in love? Because “faith works by love.” Otherwise, faith would be no faith. Faith in God,
faith in His word functions by love. So, this is the simple principle for understanding sin, the simple
principle for measuring what sin is: Faith and Love.

So, he tells us that all the commandments are fulfilled in one statement to love your neighbor as
yourself. Then, Jesus took it higher, He says, you’re to love not as yourself but as Christ loved you.
Then, He said “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends” [John
15:13]. So, you go beyond – sometimes, some people say I can’t please you and displease myself.
No! You can please someone even when you didn’t have pleasure in giving up what you had to give
up. See, your pleasure becomes doing what you’re supposed to do. You take pleasure in fulfilling
God’s righteous requirements; when you fulfill the righteousness of God, that should be your joy,
not when you fulfill your own desires.

Are Intentional Sins Forgiven by God?

Question – If you are a Christian and you sin intentionally, will you be forgiven by God if you ask
Him? If yes, can you please explain the quotation in Hebrews 10:26 to me?

Answer : Ok. First, I’ll read to you what you have in Hebrews 10:26, “For if we sin willfully after that
we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.” I’ll read
further, “But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the
adversaries. He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how
much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath…” Now, you see a lot of
times when we take the word of God out of context, we miss the whole thing. If we were to stop in
that verse 26, you’ll lose the whole truth. Let me read the verse 26 that you were talking about; I
want to read it again for you, and you’ll see why you’d miss it without reading further as I chose to
do. Verse 26 says, “For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth,
there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.” That’s true. He is telling you that there’s no more
sacrifice for sins; now, he is not saying that you will not be forgiven, but he’s telling you that’s
there’s no more sacrifice for sins. Now what is the reason? He explains to you and you get to know
what kind of sinning he is dealing with here.

So, let’s read, again from verse 27, “But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery
indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy
under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought
worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant,
wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?” This is
what he is saying this person has done, which means acting defiantly. You know the word of God,
and not only do you choose to do what is wrong, but you also reject the counsel of the Lord. And you
also despise the Lord Himself; let’s see here (Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be
thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God); so it’s not just that someone knew
that something was wrong and did it. No, that’s not what it is talking about; otherwise, you’re not
tempted. If you don’t know something is wrong and you do it, you probably weren’t even tempted.
But, you see, a bona fide temptation means that you’re lured to do something, which you know is
wrong and you go ahead and do it; but you will always…a real child of God will have sorrow for sin.
You’d always want to repent of it. But, this person does not repent; he trod under foot the Son of
God. He rejects His Lordship; that’s what it is talking about, so it is letting you know that there is no
other sacrifice, because you’re rejecting the sacrifice that has been made. It’s telling you, “which
other sacrifice are you going to get, if you trod under foot the Son of God. If you reject the Son of
God, where are you going to go?” That’s what its saying.

So it’s not dealing with someone who told a lie knowingly and then he says “Oh Lord, I’m sorry.” This
kind of person does not accept the Lord; he rejects Him. Paul tells you here that if you reject Him,
you don’t have an option; that’s what it’s saying. So, the first part of your question, “if you are a
Christian and you sin intentionally, will you be forgiven by God?” Yes. Now, first of all, you’ve got to
understand that sinning intentionally has two things: the first part of it is the intention to sin itself;
that intention, before the sin is committed, the very intention to sin itself is a sin, so the sin started
with the intention to sin, which is forgivable; then, the wrong itself, which is also forgivable. What is
not forgivable here is the rejection of the Son of God that he says, for that kind of sin, where or how
will you get the forgiveness? The very sacrifice has been condemned by you. Where are you going to
get the forgiveness from? That’s the argument that Paul is giving to us.

If you sin, willfully or unwillfully, you can be forgiven depending on whether your acceptance of the
Son of God as your Lord and Savior is still part of your faith. Do you still trust him for that salvation; if
you reject him, if you “tread under foot the Son of God, and count the blood of the covenant,
wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing,” you have no option. That’s what it’s telling you.
There’s no other way. There’s no other blood for your forgiveness.

I want to know what the law of the spirit of life in Romans 8:2 is; is it Faith?

Question – Pastor, I want to know what the law of the spirit of life in Romans 8:2 is; is it Faith?

Answer: I want to read Romans chapter 8 for the context which I think will be very explanatory. She
said from Romans 8 verse 2, but I’ll start from verse one. It says, “There is therefore now no
condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit;
verse 2: For the law of the spirit of life hath made me free from the law of sin and death; verse 3: For
what the law couldn’t do, in that it was weak through the flesh; God sending his own son in the
likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh; verse 4: That the righteousness of the
law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit. Verse 5: For they that
are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the spirit the things of the
spirit; verse 6: For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Verse 7: Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God,
neither indeed can be. Verse 8: so then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. Verse 9: But ye
are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if so be that the spirit of God dwells in you. Now if any man
have not the spirit of Christ, he is none of his. Verse 10: And if Christ be in you, the body is dead
because of sin; but the spirit is life because of righteousness. Verse 11: But if the spirit of him that
raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken
your mortal bodies by his spirit that dwelleth in you. That’s just an explanation. There is a law of life
that is at work in us now that we are in Christ. It is inherent to us and because there is life in us now,
we have Zoë; we are totally disconnected from the law of sin and death.

So, the law of life is the law of the spirit of life in Christ, so we’re living by that law. Now, the other
part of the question is, is it faith? No! There is a law of faith. The law of faith is different from the law
of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus.

Which part of man goes to heaven or hell?

Question-: Pastor, thank you for giving me insight into divine realities. My question is: Since man is a
spirit and has a soul and lives in a body. When the body dies, what exactly goes to heaven or hell; is
it the spirit or the soul or both?

Answer: The answer to that question is both. The Spirit and the soul are always together. Of course
for purpose of teaching, we tend to separate them like you’ll see in Hebrews chapter 4 verses 12.
But when a man passes on, the spirit and the soul are always together. You never really can dissect
and say this is the spirit and this is the soul, of course, the body is different from the other two. So,
the spirit and the soul are always together and one of the important things to understand when you
study the New Testament is the use of language. Sometimes in the use of the term soul, you have to
read in context to discover its being applied to the whole inward man; the spirit man which we also
call the inner man. So, sometimes the word soul is applied to refer to the whole of the inward man;
the hidden man of the heart. Some other times in some other scriptures, the word spirit is used to
refer to the inward man.

So, if you study it properly and look at it in the context, that means read the verses before and after,
you’ll understand what it’s referring to, you’ll discover which particular one is been applied. For the
purpose of teaching, the soul is a tool of the human spirit. It’s like the body without a brain. The
reasoning faculty of a man is in his soul and the human spirit is the real person. That’s why we say
man is a spirit; he has a soul and lives in a body. So, when a man dies, the spirit doesn’t die. The
spirit and the soul form the hidden man of the heart; the inward man, the spirit man. Another thing
to understand is that a human person has a spiritual body. Reading the words of Jesus in Matthew
10:28, it says, “…fear not them which kill the body but are not able to kill the soul, but rather fear
him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell”. Here he’s not referring to the physical body
but the spiritual body. That’s why we can recognize one another in the realms of the spirit because
man is going to be putting on a spiritual body. Reading from 1 Corinthians chapter 15 verse 40,
“There are also celestial bodies and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one and the
glory of the terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun and another glory of the moon and
another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory. So also is the resurrection
of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: it is sown in dishonour; it is raised in
glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: it is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual
body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body”. So, when Jesus was talking about “fear
the one who can destroy both the soul and the body in hell”, He wasn’t talking about the physical
body; natural body going to hell. The natural body doesn’t go to hell because hell is a spiritual place.
The natural body would decay in a grave or some place in the earth, but man goes to heaven or hell
with his spiritual body and that’s what Jesus was talking about. So the spirit goes with the soul. The
soul is a tool because it houses the emotions, the mind and the will of a man but the spirit is the real
person.

Question 3 on Being Filled with the Holy Spirit

Question 3 –: I have tried my best to make sure that I am filled with the Holy Spirit, so Pastor, what is
the problem with me?

Answer 3: Now, I’ve just talked about that. I’ve just talked about that. Now, remember, Jesus said
“…if you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your
Heavenly father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?” [Matthew 7:11]. Now, one of the
problems that we have observed around the world with a lot of people is that even after that they
have asked for the Holy Spirit [some even have fasted and prayed for the Holy Spirit], they still,
somehow, don’t believe they have received the Holy Spirit because they are listening for something.
You know, maybe, thinking that a voice would just speak through them to speak in other tongues,
particularly. They’re thinking a voice will just force their mouth open. They think “If I’ve received the
Holy Spirit, then the Holy Spirit should speak through me and speak in tongues”. No! When we speak
in other tongues, it’s not the Holy Spirit that’s speaking in tongues; it’s our spirit that’s speaking in
other tongues. It’s our spirit – that’s what the Bible says. So, it says “If I pray in an unknown tongue,
my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful” [1 Corinthians 14:14-15]. It is my spirit that is
praying, and my understanding is unfruitful. So, [continues quoting 1 Corinthians 14:14-15] “What is
it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also. I’ll sing with the Spirit,
and I’ll sing with the understanding also.” So, it’s our spirit that prays in other tongues, not the Holy
Spirit himself. But the Holy Spirit gives us the ability. He gives us the language. So when you receive
the Holy Spirit, He puts that language in your spirit; He puts the ability within you. So don’t wait for a
voice – act by faith! It’s like walking on water. You remember Jesus walked on water, and Peter said
“Master, if you are the one, ask me to come to you on the water” and Jesus said “Come” [Matthew
14:26-29]. And Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on the water to go to Jesus. So that’s what
you do – you step out in faith, like the Bible says, “Open your mouth, and I will fill it” [Psalm 81:10].
So you have to trust that when you asked God for the Holy Spirit, He gave you the Holy Spirit; you
don’t need to ask twice. If you ask once, God hears you. He’s more willing to give you the Holy Spirit
than you are willing to receive the Holy Spirit. Trust that, and so believe that, and act accordingly.
And begin to say: “I have the Holy Spirit!”

Now, for example, did you know it’s the same faith that we exercise in salvation that we need to
exercise in receiving the Holy Spirit? If I asked you now, “Have you received salvation?” You’d say
“yes”. If I asked you, “Have you received Christ into your heart?” You’d say “yes”. Then, how do you
know? You’d say “Because I asked, and according to the Word of God, I believed, and I received.”
That’s the same thing you’re supposed to do about the Holy Spirit. See? And then He will confirm
that faith by granting you his divine presence. Don’t wait till you feel something physical – you don’t
need to feel anything physical. It’s an act of faith on your part, and it will be made real to your spirit.
Praise God!

Where do babies go when they die?

Question: – Where do babies go when they die or if they die? Do they go to heaven or hell since
they are incapable of understanding the gospel and since all humans are born into sin at birth
according to Psalm 51:5? So, what if there was a miscarriage, where does the baby go?

Answer: Very simple! Something you need to understand is that the human being has an animal life
and a spiritual life and the Bible tells us that God gives a body to the spirit; he doesn’t give a spirit to
a body. It says to every seed he has given his body. Now, at what point is that body given to the
spirit? It’s unknown to us! We can’t know that. They are just some things that we can’t know; only
God knows.

The Bible says, “…children are an heritage of the Lord…”, what does that mean? It doesn’t mean
that every one that’s ever born into this world is God’s heritage; that He brought them forth; no!
There are biological laws that are working and that is the animal part of life. The animal part of life is
there, the biological part is there. For example, if a man’s hands got cut off and dropped on the
floor, for some moments, the hands will still move. The spirit of the man is not in the hands, so why
is the hand still moving? It’s the animal part of man. There’s an animal life and there’s a spirit life. At
what point is that spirit introduced into that body that’s prepared for it? We don’t know; only God
knows that. And so it’s up to God as to where all these babies go. But one thing is certain; according
to the scriptures, when a Christian gives birth to a child, that child is taken over by God; that’s what
the Bible shows us. So if you have chosen according to God’s principles, you can be sure that there’s
that heritage for them according to the scriptures. But then He says for the others, “Your children
are unholy”; that’s for the ones that know not Christ. But even though the child of a Christian is
sanctified according to the Bible, they must still receive the lordship of Jesus when they come to the
age of accountability. Before then they ride on the faith of their parents; that’s what the word
teaches.

That’s why Christians can be sure that their children will go to heaven except they make a different
decision when they grow up; that’s why it says train up a child in the way that he should go, that
when he’s old he will not depart from it.
