Transactions within family: Nominal stamp duty & registration
fee: Settlement 1% Stamp Duty on the market Release value; but not exceeding Rs. 10,000/-; Partition & Registration fee - 1% subject to the Dissolution of Partnership maximum of Rs. 2,000/-; (With effect from 16.12.2004) Sale/Conveyance Deeds - the lowest rate of stamp duty and transfer duty in Southern India, i.e., 8%. (with effect from 21.11.2003). Lease – the lowest rate of stamp duty and registration fee in the country: Lease below 30 years - Stamp duty – 1% on the total amount of Lease upto 99 years - Stamp duty– 4% rent, premium, fine, etc., Lease above 99 years - Stamp duty– 8% Registration fee is 1% subject to a maximum of Rs. 5,000/-;(With effect from 16.12.2004 Simple Mortgages – Stamp duty reduced from 4% to 1% on loan amount with a maximum of Rs. 20,000/-; Registration fee – 1% on loan amount subject to the maximum of Rs. 5,000/-;(With effect from 12.2.2004) No other State offers such concessional duty & fee.
