REVISED RATES OF STAMP DUTY AND REGISTRATION FEES .

 Transactions within family: Nominal stamp duty & registration


fee:
Settlement 1% Stamp Duty on the market
Release value; but not exceeding Rs. 10,000/-;
Partition & Registration fee - 1% subject to the
Dissolution of Partnership maximum of Rs. 2,000/-; (With effect
from 16.12.2004)
 Sale/Conveyance Deeds - the lowest rate of stamp duty and transfer
duty in Southern India, i.e., 8%. (with effect from 21.11.2003).
 Lease – the lowest rate of stamp duty and registration fee in the country:
Lease below 30 years - Stamp duty – 1% on the total amount of
Lease upto 99 years - Stamp duty– 4% rent, premium, fine, etc.,
Lease above 99 years - Stamp duty– 8%
Registration fee is 1% subject to a maximum of Rs. 5,000/-;(With effect
from 16.12.2004
 Simple Mortgages – Stamp duty reduced from 4% to 1% on loan
amount with a maximum of Rs. 20,000/-;
Registration fee – 1% on loan amount subject to the
maximum of Rs. 5,000/-;(With effect from
12.2.2004)
No other State offers such concessional duty & fee.
 Mortgage with - Stamp duty reduced from 9% to 4% on loan
Possession amount; Registration fee - 1% subject to the
maximum of Rs. 2,00,000; /-;(With effect from
12.2.2004)
 Deposit of - Maximum stamp duty payable is Rs. 5,000/-;
Title Deeds maximum registration fee –
Rs. 1,000/-./-;(With effect from 12.2.2004)
Tamil Nadu is the only State offering such nominal rates
 Power of Attorney Stamp duty reduced from 8% to 4%
for consideration on the consideration amount/-(With effect from
12.2.2004)
