The Rise of Generation One

Who would think that aliens were real? But, they are. First, they came to earth, looking

and acting like humans. There were ten of them. Then aliens named One, Two, Three, and Eight

were killed by the Mogodorians, the ones who wanted us exterminated. The rest, though, saved

Earth. Led by John Smith, or Four, the aliens defeated the Mogodorians. Then, the truly

remarkable thing happened. The aliens gave humans powers, or legacies as they called them. The

humans needed to be trained. Some say the aliens can’t control them. No, instead the aliens will

train them. Others say the enhanced humans will destroy the world. No, they will save the world.

Its time for the first generation to rise in Pittacus Lore’s Generation One.

Kopano Okeke watched John Smith save the world on the television, in his small home in

Nigeria. He wanted the legacies, the powers so badly. When he finally developed the first legacy,

his telekinesis, Kopano was overjoyed. His father and brothers were as well. Kopano’s mother,

however, saw him as a devil. His father used Kopano for profit. He became a glorified body

guard as his father did his shady deals and suspicious deliveries. When his mother finally helped

Kopano escape, he thought she begin to see him in a different light. But as he left for the

American academy that would train him, he saw that his mother was still afraid of him. To others

Kopano will be a savior, a symbol of hope. But, to his mother, Kopano would always be a

demon. (1)

Taylor thought the aliens were ridiculous. Why would people want to have powers and

fight alongside them? She had her whole life planned in Turner County, South Dakota. Taylor

didn’t like change. So, when her life changed forever, she hid. When she got her first legacy,

Telekinesis she hid it from her father. There were people who called themselves the Harvesters

that would kill her for them. But, her father gets hurt and Taylor is forced to use her legacies.

Healing was also her power. Of course, the Harvesters caught wind of her powers. They showed

up and were going to kill her, when an angel saved her. John Smith, the world’s savior, had

appeared. It looked like Taylor didn’t have a choice. She was off to the Academy. (2)

Ran’s family was destroyed by the Mogodorians. Nigel was chased from his home. Caleb

wasn’t trusted. These three had seen more than they would like to admit. They came and fought

the Mogodorians along with John Smith. And how did the government repay them? They stuck

the tree in the middle of nowhere until it was time. It was time for Nigel, Ran, and Caleb to go to

the Academy. (3)

The Human Garde Academy was created to train the enhanced humans. But to Isabella, it

was boring. The shapeshifter was bored of the classes, games, and, most importantly, boys.

Isabella wasn’t a soldier. But, neither were the other five when they came. Isabella, Taylor, Ran,

Nigel, Caleb, and Kopano became fast friends. Then came the war games. It was simple, really.

Save the captive and don’t get caught by the government peacekeepers. The peacekeepers were

the already graduated humans, using their powers to help the world. Nobody wanted those six on

the team. Who would need a shapeshifter, a healer, a destructive bomb, a sonic manipulator, a

duplicator, and a man made of iron. So, they made their own team. And, they won! To celebrate

Isabella wanted to take the others out. They all wanted to escape from the academy for a little

while. (4)

Isabella, Taylor, Ran, Nigel, Caleb, and Kopano made it to Mar a Vista California before

the Harvesters attacked. But this time they weren’t alone. Other enhanced humans were with

them. It was a loosing battle for the kids from the academy. The new man twisted their feelings.

He gave Kopano rage and made him attack his friends. While the others were distracted he took

Taylor. Where the man was going he would need a healer. His friend created their escape by

creating Loralite, a special stone for the aliens that allowed them to transport themselves. But the

man’s partner was attacked by the Harvesters. He left. (5)

The man took Taylor to his home in Hofn, Iceland. The man’s name was Einar. He

worked for the Foundation, a mysterious organization that took other enhanced humans with

peaceful legacies. They wanted to control the special humans. The Foundation needed Taylor for

her healing powers. But, if Taylor didn’t cooperate, they would hurt those she loved. Taylor

needed to escape. (6)

Back in the United States, Ran, Isabella, Nigel, Caleb, and Kopano barely escaped. They

made it Stockton, California before they had to switch cars. They needed to find Taylor, before

they returned to the Academy. But first, they needed to get to where Taylor was. They planned to

find the girl that worked with the man who took Taylor. (7)

So, the five traveled to Fresno, California. There, they learned that they needed to head to

Silver City, New Mexico. They needed to infiltrate the Harvesters and find the girl to rescue

Taylor. (8)

Finally, in Silver City, New Mexico, the five made it to Apache Jack, a shady bar where

the Harvesters were located. Isabella used her power to shapeshift into a Harvester and went into

the building where they were keeping the girl. Isabella learned her name was Rabiya. They were

making their escape when the Harvesters finally realized the enhanced humans were there. But,

at the same time, the peacekeepers came back to take Nigel, Ran, Isabella, Caleb, and Kopano

back to the Academy. Caleb and Isabella were able to hold back the peacekeepers and Harvesters

while Ran, Nigel, and Kopano escaped to Iceland with Rabiya. (9)

In Iceland, it was time for Taylor to cooperate, albeit unwillingly. Taylor and Einar

traveled to Abu Dhabi to heal the crown prince. Taylor hated to be used. In Abu Dhabi Taylor,

and three other healers kidnapped by the foundation, manage to heal the prince, but not before

Taylor makes them question themselves. She asks if they are good people. Then they heal the

prince. After healing them Taylor and Einar return to Iceland where Ran, Nigel, and Kopano

have come to rescue her. (10)

Einar was able to trap Kopano, injure Ran, and nearly kill Nigel without breaking a

sweat. But, Einar soon realizes that they aren’t worth it. He sees his partner Rabiya. He escapes

with her, back to the Foundation. Taylor, Ran, Nigel, and Kopano reunite. They are battered and

beaten, but together. Together they return to the academy, to their other friends Isabella and

Caleb. (11)

Their lives soon return to normal. Well, as normal as it can be for humans who have been

granted superpowers by aliens. Isabella, Taylor, Ran, Nigel, Caleb, and Kopano become known

as the “fugitive six.” Then Taylor receives the letter from the Foundation, asking for her return.

Taylor has an idea, but her friends won’t like it. But, if the corrupted Foundation has moles

spying on them, maybe they should have a mole spying on the Foundation. (12)

The enhanced humans weren’t meant to be controlled. They were created to help save the

Earth. In Pittacus Lore’s Generation One we learn of corrupted governments, change, and the

friendship of six kids who met by chance. After all, it was time for the new generation to rise.
