time was 4 minutes,

However, Sreenan
bounced back the fol-
lowing week at the Troy
regional and defeated
Watcke in the 1,600 and
3,200.
This weekend, the
table was set for another
epic battle.
In Saturday’s D-III
1,600, Sreenan had the
lead for most of the
race. However, down the
stretch, Watcke made her
move and went on to win
in a personal-best time of
5:01.08. Sreenan finished
third in 5:04.26. Pettis-
ville’s Alexa Leppelmeier
snuck into second, right
in front of Sreenan, with
a time of 5:04.24.
“I knew she was
going to come, because
that’s what she did at
districts,” Sreenan said.
“I was hoping that it
was going to work this
time, because it worked
at regionals. It was a
really good race. I was
hoping to get under five,
but I PR’d. So, I’m really
happy.”
Added Watcke, “I like
to go out there and have
a good kick in the end.
That’s kind of my goal.”
In Saturday’s 3,200,
Sreenan finished 10th
(11:30.66), while Watcke
came in 13th (11:36.91).
