Introduction of Business
Pablo’s is basically a theme based restaurant in F11 sector of Islamabad. This restaurant is
inspired from a popular TV show Narcos. Zoraiz Khan and Ghazi Ali Hassan started this -tiny
place with the seating capacity of 15 people, but what little space is there has been creatively
utilized and the industrial warehouse interior with uncovered bulbs and exposed wires is true to
the theme. The interior of restaurant is inspiring because of Prison bars hanging over the counter
and mug shots of members of the Medellin cartel displayed on the walls, along with a giant
poster of Pablo Escobar. Unlike most themed cafes in the city, Pablo’s is not all about the décor;
the food takes center stage.

Speaker
Mr. Zoraiz is a recent graduate of the Lahore University of Management Sciences, who came to
Islamabad a year ago with the sole purpose of opening a burger joint. With a lot of struggle he
ended up making a really successful working fast food outlet. The differentiation point he offers
to the customers is the opportunity to build their own burger. He claims that the burger offered
on Pablo’s can beat the best burger chains in Islamabad. Customers can customize their own
burger, or choose from the preset options on the menu, which also offers a small range of bar-
styled starters, pastas, burgers and steaks.

Business Operations
B.Y.O.B. stands for ‘build your own burger’ and the building blocks aren’t too shabby; the buns
are brought in fresh from Lahore every day, and the beef is driven in from Mirpur. For the
B.Y.O.B option, customers are given a printed menu and a pencil to mark their choice of bun,
meat, salad, cheese, sauces and toppings. ‘Premium’ toppings such as turkey bacon and sweet
corn as well as extra meat and cheese are charged separately. With a variety of options to mix
and match, customers can build a burger which combines their favorite flavors.

In depth discussion about the problems faced in starting a new business was held. The reactions
of the family and other financial problems are the main issue. He basically generated financials
by freelancing for about 2 years in the last semesters of his degree. After generating enough
resources he started working on opening a restaurant. During the process of opening restaurant,
they encountered a lot of problems in terms of renovation, location selection, staffing and
training of employees. After making multiple attempts and facing failures, he learned about how
to manage the business. Their business received positive response from the consumers and the
idea was accepted by the public because of the notorious image of Pablo in youth. The major
portion of his customers is students and he provides what is required by them. The ambiance of
restaurant is built completely on the theme of Narcos.
