A DepEd-BEAM Distance Learning Program supported by the Australian Agency for International Development
To the Learner

Dear Learner,

How are you doing learner?

Did you have fun working on your previous module? I am
very sure you enjoyed working on the exercises and did a terrific job.
Let us move on to another learning experience about two
main kinds of final intonation patterns and its uses.

Let’s Learn This

In this module, I have prepared exercises for you to do to

improve your skill using intonation. Without it, it’s impossible to

same time, you can learn how to appreciate the beauty of the human
voice when it comes to expressing emotions.

Read the dialog below. Say the questions with proper intonation,
then supply their answers.

25
On to the New Library

Elena: Liza, how did you find Carmen’s story?

Liza: It was great. I can imagine how she felt up in the

air while she was on the plane.

Elena: Look there! Guess who’s coming.

Francis: How are you, Elena? Liza? Where are you going?

Liza: We’re fine. We are visiting the new Library. How

about joining us?

Francis: I have been there.

Elena: How is the new library?

Francis: It’s more spacious and well-ventilated. It has a lot

of new books and reading materials. There’s also
a computer for the librarian.

Liza: We heard that we have a new librarian. Who could

he or she be?

Francis: You’re right. She’s Mrs. Roda.

Elena: Where is Mrs. Bautista now? Why did she leave her
library work?

Francis: Don’t you know that Mrs. Bautista is now our new
guidance counselor?

Liza: Oh! I am so happy for her.

Elena: Come. I’m so excited about our new library. I

can’t wait to see it.
