COURSE OUTCOMES (COMPETENCY UNIT WORK ACTIVITIES)

The outcome of this competency is to provide appropriate tools and equipment handling, safe workshop practices and compliance to
Department of Environmental and Department of Safety and Health rules and regulation. Upon completion of this competency unit, trainees will
be able to: -

 Maintain common mechanical hand tools


 Maintain measuring tools
 Maintain power and pneumatic tools
 Maintain workshop equipment
 Maintain welding tools and equipment
 Adhere to legislative rules and regulation and workplace safety practices

COURSE DESCRIPTION (COMPETENCY UNIT DESCRIPTOR)

Automotive workshop practices offer learners the opportunity to gain an understanding of automotive rectification work through practical
application. This is achieved through the completion of a sequence of practical experiences and the application of knowledge gained through
standard workshop procedures and routines. Learners will learn automotive system rectification processes and safe working practises, both
individually and as a member of a group.

The person whom is competent in automotive workshop practices must be able to maintain common mechanical hand tools, maintain
measuring tools, maintain power and pneumatic tools, maintain welding tools and equipment and adhere to legislative rules and regulation and
workplace safety practices.

The outcome of this competency is to provide appropriate tools and equipment handling, safe workshop practices and compliance to
Department of Environmental and Department of Safety and Health rules and regulation.
