scheduling program for doctors’ appointments. To address this, Tidiane is running MaliSante, a

services, to make managing patient care more efficient and to make people more healthy.

Umba Create Hub Summary: The current Zimbabwean education curriculum is producing graduates who are not well
suited for the rapidly changing global community. That is why Kudzai is providing skills training and
career planning guidance for young women and high school girls through her business, Farayi
Africa. She will create a centralized location where girls and women can share the learning
experience, gain knowledge and skills, and collaborate.

Creditech Republic of the Summary: Quality education is only achievable with quality educators. Teachers in the Democratic
Congo Republic of the Congo need access to information for research purposes in order to assist their
students. In addition, in the DRC, most schools lack training and professional development
programs for the teachers. The costs of setting up a teachers development program, building
libraries and computer labs are often prohibitive for most Congolese schools. A powerful
alternative tool is the Internet, which offers access to virtual libraries, encyclopedias, and online
courses for students and teachers. Creditech, a social enterprise which has developed a “Connect
the Teacher” project to help close the digital information gap for teachers in the DRC.

Iriba Clean Water Delivery LTD. Summary: In the Eastern province of Rwanda, there is a serious problem of water scarcity. A total
of 67.3 percent of people living in these districts use polluted water from swamps, rivers and lakes
for drinking and household activities. Even when people find clean water sources they tend to
carry the water back home in contaminated containers without realizing the health hazards. In
addition to health and sanitation problems, farmers’ yields are reduced to 84 percent of the
expected yield, especially during the dry seasons when water is scarce and they are unable to
water their farms. IRIBA Clean Water Delivery Ltd. is improving access to reliable and safe water
for drinking, household and farming activities.

for smallholder farmers to increase their profitability. It has developed a Fresh Tomato Bank to
process tomatoes into puree and enable tomato farmers to minimize their post-harvest losses and
obtain a fair and steady price for their produce.
