Summary
The presentation will start with a question “What movie types do you know?” in order to warm up the
students. The presentation will include the movie types. There are six movie types in total in the presentation.
Each movie type will include two example movie posters corresponding to that movie type. Secondly, the
concept map which will be distributed in handout format will include the movie types and corresponding movie
examples again.

Explanation
There may be overlaps within the types of movie. For example, a biography movie may also be a drama. These
overlaps won’t affect grading.
Explanation regarding to the implementation of the plan
At the first part of the lesson, the presentation about movie types will be shown to the students. If the
projector does not work due to technical reasons, the lesson will be conducted from the hardcopy of the
presentation. They will also be provided with a concept map about the movie types in handout formats for
them to understand better visually. After this lecture part, the students will be provided with the handout of
matching exercises. They will match the movie posters (different from the ones shown in the presentation and
concept map) to the corresponding movie types. At the second part of the lesson, a speaking exercise will be
implemented. Beginning from the front rows, each student will express their ideas about their favorite movies
and will justify their ideas in non-complex sentences. In case a student spends a lot of time trying to find a
word, the teacher can help him/her by scaffolding. Finally, the students will play a Taboo-like game in groups.
Each group will have a guesser and the rest of the members will be speakers. The groups will try to score the
highest point by guessing words correctly. Finishing the lesson here, the teacher will give an assignment which
requires students to find out the favorite movie type of their parents and to share the results with the
classroom.
