BERKELEY STUDENT CO-OP

GRACE SEMESTER APPLICATION

A grace semester is a semester of membership eligibility during which a member does not meet the BSC
guidelines of a full time student. For example, a member may be taking the semester off from school to work, look for a
job, take a reduced course load, etc. Grace semesters will be granted under the following provisions:

FALL grace semesters will be granted to continuing members who are taking the Fall Semester off from school. S/he
must have lived in the BSC and have been eligible for membership as a student during the preceding Spring Semester.
In addition, s/he must plan on living in the co-op and be able to verify that s/he will be a registered student during the
following Spring Semester. Verification of future student status will be required by the housing reservation
deadline for Spring.

SPRING grace semesters will be granted to continuing members who are taking the Spring semester off from school.
S/he must have lived in the BSC and have been eligible for membership as a student during the preceding Fall Semester.
If members are planning to remain in the co-op for the following fall semester, they must once again be eligible for
membership as a student. December graduates are eligible for grace semesters the following Spring.

NOTE: Student Status is the member’s responsibility. The member must leave the co-op upon the conclusion of his/her
last semester of eligibility. The member is responsible for properly canceling his/her contract on time in anticipation of
leaving the co-op. LIMIT: Co-opers may take no more than 3 grace semesters (none consecutively) during their
membership.

I have read the foregoing application and understand the terms of the grace semester for which I am applying. I
understand that if I am applying for a Fall grace semester, I will have to provide verification of my Spring
eligibility by the housing reservation deadline for the upcoming Spring. If I do not provide this information by
the deadline, this grace semester will be retroactively canceled. I further understand that I may take no more than 3
grace semesters (non-consecutively) during my membership in the BSC.
