Almighty Allah for helping me staying dedicated towards creating this report.

giving me opportunity to enhance my knowledge by working on his assigned report. My
respected instructor has provided me with valuable knowledge and understanding on the
proposed topic and that is why I was able to proceed so far with my report. I would really

Abstract

A dramatic development has been seen in the banking sector of Bangladesh in recent
times. Use of credit card, a product of banks, is a relatively new phenomenon in
Bangladesh, and its market has been growing rapidly with the increasing acceptability of
plastic money in numerous outlets. However the advantages and different features still
not familiar to a major portion of the market. The complexity of human life can be reduce
by using credit cards. Consequently, in case of improvement of the living standards, credit
cards can play a vital role. Banks like The City Bank Ltd, Mercantile Bank Ltd, Standard
Chartered Bank, Prime Bank Ltd, Eastern Bank Ltd, Trust Bank Ltd., Dhaka Bank Ltd,
United Commercial Bank Ltd, and National Bank Ltd and so on issues credit cards in
Bangladesh. Consumers and merchants are benefited by credit cards by some unique
features which are provided by any other payment instruments. In terms of purchase and
balance transmission, credit cards already establish a strong position globally. Credit
cards which is also known as plastic money gained popularity as a payment medium
because of the convenience of not carrying cash. Credit cards provide consumers a
secure, reliable and convenient means of payment. Consumers often receive incentives
to use their credit cards such as dispute resolution services, frequent-use awards, and
interest-free short-term loans if no balances are carried between billing periods. This
research attempts to investigate the consumers’ perception of the factors which
influences the usage of credit cards. To conduct the research 20 bank account holders
are approached and analyzed. It significant relationship among – Usage intention are
affected by the features of credit cards, profession and usage behavior of the credit cards.
The research also reveals that there is no significant relationship among gender users to
use credit card frequently and there is no emotional attachment in case of using credit
cards but using credit card is something trendy in present times. The study recommends
to reduce the expenses and improve the security system of credit cards in Bangladesh.
