Unit II Projection of Points and Straight lines

1) One end P of a line PQ,55mm long is 35mm infront of the VP and 25mm above the
HP.The line is inclined at 400 to the HP and 300 to the VP.Draw the projections of PQ.
(jan 2014)

2) A straight line AB of length 100mm has its end A 10mm infront of VP and B 20mm
above HP. The front view and top view of the line measure 80mm and 60mm
respectively.Draw the projections of the line and obtain the true angles of inclination with
HP and VP. (jan 2014)

3) The top view of a 75mm long line AB measures 65mm while the length of its front view
is 50mm.Its one end A is in HP. And 12mm infront of the VP.Draw the projections of
AB and determine its inclinations with the HP and the VP.(jan 2013)

4) The end P of a line PQ,70mm long is 15mm above the HP and 20mm infront of the
VP.Its plan is inclined at 450 to theVP.Draw the projections of the line and find its true
inclinations with the VP and the HP. (jan 2013)

5) A line PQ as its end P, 10mm above the HP and 20mm Infront of the VP. The end Q is
35mm infront of the VP the front view of the line measures 75mm the distance between
the end projection is 50mm draw the projections of the line and find its True length and
its true inclinations with the VP and the HP

6) The projection of a line measure 80mm in the topview and 70mm in the front view the
midpoint of the line is 45mm infront of VP and 35mm Above the HP one end is 10mm in
the front of VP and Nearer to it. The other end is Nearer to HP draw the projections of the
line find the true length and true inclinations. (jan 2010)
7) the front view of a line AB 90mm long is inclined at 450 to XY line the front view
measures 65mm long point A is Located 15mm Above HP and is in the VP. Draw the
projections and find its True inclinations. (jan 2012)

8) Draw the Projections of the following point on the common reference line
1) P, 35mm behind the VP and 20mm below the HP
2) Q, 40mm infront of the VP and 30mm above the HP
3) R, 50mm behind the VP and 15mm above the HP
4) S, 40mm below the HP and in the VP
5) T, 30mm in front of the VP and 50mm below the HP (jan 2013)

9) Write down Position of the points.

Projection of planes

1) A hexagonal plate of side 20mm rests on the HP on one of its sides inclined at 450 to the
VP.The surface of the plate makes an angle of 300 with the HP.Draw the front and top
views of the plate.(jan 2014)

2) A hexagonal lamina of sie 30mm is resting on HP on one of its corners with the sides
containing the corner being equally inclined to HP.The surface of the laminia makes an
angle of 300 with HP.Draw the top view and front view of the laminia if the plan of the
diagonal passing through the corner is inclined at 500 to XY-line. (jan2014)

3) Draw the projections of a regular hexagon of 25mm side having one of its sides in the HP.
And inclined at 600 to the VP. And its surface making an angle of 450 with the HP. (Jan
2013)

4) A circular plate of diameter 70mm has the end P of the diameter PQ in the HP and the
plate is inclined at 400 to the HP.Draw its projection
i) The diameters PQ appears to be inclined at 450 to the VP in the top view
ii) The diameter PQ makes 450 with the VP. ( Jan 2013)

5) A rectangular plate of side 50x25mm is resting on its shorter side on HP and inclined at
300 to VP.Its surface is inclined at 600 to the HP.Draw its projections (Jan 2012)

6) A pentagonal lamina of side 35mm is resting upon its edge on HP. So that the surface is
inclined at 450 to the HP. The line joining the midpoint of the resting edge to the opposite
corner is inclined at 300 to the VP such that the resting edge is away from VP.Draw the
projections of the laminia. (jan 2011)
