Sentence Workshop 11 – Common Grammar Errors and Semicolons

Please correct the ten errors in the following paragraph. Highlight the error and correct it.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE USE A SEMICOLON TO FIX THE COMMA SPLICE.

Ex. I missed the bus, the next one didn't come for an hour. I have to wait on a bench in the rain.
My managers told me that if I was late again there going to fire me.

I missed the bus; the next one didn't come for an hour. I had to wait on a bench in the rain. My
managers told me that if I was late again, they were going to fire me.

When I picked out my cat at the Humane Society she was a mangy, pitiful

animal. She was so sick that her body had lost most of it's fur. She was declawed

by her previous owners, she couldn't climb or catch mice. Since she couldn't hunt

she nearly starved. I thought it couldn't get worse for her, but their was an abscess

on her leg. The vets at the Humane Society had drained it but it was still scabby

and without fur. She seems hopeless and I hope I can give her a good home.
