In this article written by Alexandra Pannoni, she writes about the benefits and the mission of
Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC). The whole goal and/or mission of JROTC is to
motivate young people to become better citizens by teaching them life changing skills. Such as
how to be leaders, dedicated, resilient, organized, confident students, and focusing on the
ultimate goal which is graduating high school. JROTC was created to help students with their
morals and skills that will transfer into their adult lives. The most important aspect of the
program, is that if they decide to go into real military service after High School, they will be
much better prepared to do so. This article helps me with my project because it gives my
audience a sense of what the program is about in general. It is easy to explain the academic
improvements I would like to make to the program when my audience knows the concept of

In this article written by an employee of the company, explains how to help people apply and
look for ROTC scholarships. It helps you qualify for the scholarships as well. For example the
article informs you how you can increase your chances of earning the scholarship. For example,
what SAT score you need to qualify, what high school courses you need to take to get the
scholarship, and a numerous number of helpful tips. This article helps me with my project
because, it gives my audience an idea of what academic changes I would like to make to the
program. When I was in JROTC looking for colleges that had ROTC, I knew that I needed a
whole lot of help looking for what colleges had ROTC and how to apply. So, one of my teachers
helped me find information on the college ROTC programs. What if we incorporate a student
plan that is similar to this project so that cadets in JROTC have a chance to apply for
scholarships if they need to. Receiving extra help with college scholarships is always a plus.

Most teenagers who go into the JROTC programs at school tend to want to learn about
the military ( discipline, better themselves, ect) or they actually plan to enlist into the military. In
the article/ website, it talks about how to prepare and study to take the ASVAB. The ASVAB is
the most important test everyone in the military will have to take. It determines everyone's job
and determines what branch you are qualified to go into. Unfortunately, the JROTC program
doesn't help you study for the AVAB. But, it does give you the opportunity to take the test at
school for practice. This article/ website helps me with my article because I would like to
incorporate a way to help cadets study for their future. I feel that because JROTC is a program
that's military based, they should help the students that plan to go into the military with some
studying techniques.

This school website created by Leilehua High School, talks about a number of things.
The benefits of their JROTC, upcoming events, how JROTC helps their students, etc. This
website will help me with my topic essay because Leilehua High School has a very organized
program that I can look to as a reference. On their website, they have links that the students can
go to if they would like to know more information about life after JROTC. For example, they
have a link to know more about the college ROTC programs. They even have links to all of the
three Military Academies. When I started applying to the Naval Academy I knew that I needed
help with information on how to start. To be quite frank, I didn't know any of the academies
existed until my mentor informed me about. How many other teenagers in Poly’s JROTC

In this article, the author Paige Maslen informs her audience of the benifits/ history of JROTC.
The JROTC program was created to help shape the character of high school students by using
military tactics. Discipline, Honor, Respect, Patience, etc. Most JROTC programs are known for
having a high graduation rate when comparing the students involved in the program to students
who are not involved. This article helps me with my essay because it helps to give me an idea of
what JROTC does to benefit the teenagers involved. It helps me know what effective teachings
or planning the other high school JROTC programs have done to help their students graduate. So

I can compare it to what Poly’s JROTC program is doing to help their students be successful
academically.
