STATUS OF THE BUSINESS

The rising health consciousness of Philippine consumers has expanded demand

for juice in the country. Emerging from its status of a category which is perceived to
cater mainly to children, the health and wellness trend in the Philippines has
encouraged consumers to increase their juice intake.
In 2016, off-trade volume sales of juice increased by 5%, a higher rate of growth
than the 3% growth registered in the category in 2015. This acceleration in growth in the
category can be attributed mainly to election-related spending. However, the
exceptional increase in volume sales because of the election season mainly benefited
low-priced categories such as juice drinks.

Del Monte Philippines led juice in 2016 with a value share of 32%. In addition to
implementing strong marketing campaigns, the company also benefits from its
reputation for manufacturing healthy and affordable juice. The company has also
reaped the benefits of offering its four classic flavours four seasons, mango, sweetened
pineapple, and pineapple orange in 1-litre brick liquid cartons its since the end of 2013.

Del Monte Philippines expanded this product line in May 2015 with the
introduction of pineapple blueberry and pineapple strawberry, and subsequently
launched pineapple pomelo and pineapple lychee variants in April 2016. PROSPECTS
Juice is expected to increase in each of off-trade volume and value at a CAGR of 1% in
constant 2016 terms over the forecast period, growth which is likely to come mostly
from the increasing demand for 100% juice.

The rising health awareness of Philippine consumers is set to result in 100%

juice gaining stronger growth momentum over the forecast period, although growth
rates in juice drinks are expected to slow down over the forecast period. Even so, the
product mix within juice drinks and the category’s lower average unit price are set to
continue supporting growth in this category over the forecast period, albeit at a lower
pace than 100% juice and nectars.
RECOMMENDATIONS

For the further improvement of the business the following are the
recommendations:

1. Every month, the company should create a Marketing Research and

Marketing Plan. This will guide them on what they could offer more or could
offer less. This will be a great help to ensure the stability of the business.
2. On the first day of operation, the company should offer a free taste. This will
help the company to further recognize and introduce the taste of the new
product to the customers.
3. For additional promotion the employees will be giving flyers within the area of
operation.
4. The company will create a page in social media (i.e Facebook) where the
product details are included since most of the students/customers are using
facebook.
5. If the business will grow and due to high demand of the customers, the
company will be open to hire more employees in service
