COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed to develop students’ competence in literal reading of texts in
relation to the students’ field of study and in emphasizing the use of appropriate reading
strategies to identify the meaning and use of unfamiliar vocabulary, the topic, and the
main idea from supporting detail of the texts.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completing the course, students know and apply strategies for reading
comprehension, comprehend texts related to the students’ field study, and identify
vocabulary, topic, main idea, and supporting details in texts.

CONTENT/ MATERIALS
The contents of this course cover various topics which are in relation to students’ field
of study.

ACTIVITIES
The classroom activities are mostly lecturing, discussing, and practicing topics delivered
through this semester.

EVALUATION
Students’ final grade will be determined on the basis of attendance (15%), assignments
(20%), mid-term test (30%), and final test (35%).
