It is believed that playing a musical instrument early in childhood represents a major accomplishment for
every child. This essay agrees with the idea that developing the ability to play an instrument can make
the difference in children` life. First of all, this essay will discuss the influence of music over one`s brain
development. Secondly, this essay will look at how learning an instrument reduces stress.
Regularly playing an instrument makes children brainier. The parts of the brain that control motor skills,
hearing, storing audio information and memory become larger and more active when a person learns how to
play an instrument and can apparently improve day to day actions such as being alert, planning and
emotional perception. For instance, learning to play the piano teaches the chidlren to be more self-
disciplined, more attentive and better at planning. All of these things are very important for academic
performance, so can therefore make a child brighter.
Furthermore, playing a musical instrument is beneficial for child`s psychological health. Music has shown to
help reduce blood pressure and to also build serotonin in the brain. For instance, playing the piano is an
excellent form of stress relief. Given the full engagement of the brain which this activity involve, it is no
surprise that there is no room in the brain for any other thoughts to disturb children` focus and
creativity.
Overall, there is no doubt that learning an instrument represents a major achivement for a child. Regular
music lessons improve brain`s performance, hence higher academic achievements. Also, playing an
instrument has proven to relieve stress, anxiety and prevents depression.
