Respiratory and Nervous

System
By Reema, Adam, Wilson, and

Respiratory System
WP

Respiratory System
-The system consisting of specific organs and
structures used for gas exchange (ex: lungs,
nose)
-What does it do? The process of getting rid of
carbon dioxide and taking in oxygen
How does it
work?
RA

Diagram:How is it
organized?
-You breathe air and it
goes through your
larynx (voice box),
windpipe (filters air,
sneezes germs &
particles), two bronchi,
and into your lungs

-Once in lungs, oxygen

moves to the
bloodstream
Nervous System
AR

Function
● Controls and
coordinates bodily How is it
functions organized?

● Forms reactions to
internal and
external stimuli
WP

Nervous System
-Carries messages from the brain to motor
nerves through spinal cord
-Neurons carry impulses from the brain
-The communicator - in control of the body
RH

Neurons
Neurons carry impulses from the brain
Motor Neurons transmit signals from brain to
muscles
Sensory Neurons transmit signals from
sensory nerves to brain
How and why did we
make this?
RA

How did we make this?

-Made a blueprint of the
model

-Changed it because it was

less likely to work/didn’t
have the material
AR

Bike Pump
Represents a motor nerve

Motor nerves receive the neuron’s impulses and tell the lungs to inhale
WP

Clear Tube
Represents spinal cord

Neurons use the spinal cord

to travel through the body
quickly
RH

Marbles
-Marbles represent
neurons

Neurons are sent from

the brain to transport
impulses
RA

Balloon
Represents lungs

Receives command from motor nerves

when to inhale and exhale
AR

What are the three functions?

1. Brain sending impulses to motor nerve - Nervous System
a. Marbles are sent through tube to bike pump
2. Lungs inhaling oxygen - Respiratory System
a. Balloon inflates
3. Motor nerve commanding lungs to inhale- Both systems interacting
a. Bike pump controls inflation of balloon
