Amar Chitra Katha is one of India’s largest selling

comic book series with 400 titles and over 90 million
copies sold, that retell stories from the great Indian
epics, mythology, folklore and fables in over 20 Indian
languages. Created by Anant Pai in 1967, and published
by India book House, the imprint was acquired by ACK
Media in 2007. AnanTaya celebrates Amar Chitra Katha,
to create a series of contemporary products bringing
back wisdom to everyday living.

AnanTaya creates a series of designs based on Rekha
(lines) and Bindoo (dots) with a fresh impression and
lively patterns applied to T-shirts, pyjamas, cushions,
dhurries, quilts and home furnishings. Natural colours
are achieved with age-old methods including rusted
iron, jaggery and gum for black and alum, geru and
alizarin with the dawariya flower for red. Sanganer
block printers with generations of experience produce
this magically modern textile range.
