The Ethiopian Cultural exchange
Programme provides countless
opportunities to develop mutual
understanding between the people of
the Ethiopia and India. When you
experience a different culture through
educational and cultural exchange you
gain a deeper understanding of
yourself and those around you—
deepening your knowledge of foreign
cultures and strengthening
international relationships.
Expeditionary learning involves “learning by doing” and
participating in a hands-on experience. Students may
participate in fieldwork, learning expeditions, projects or
case studies External link to be able to apply knowledge
learned in the classroom to the real world, rather than
learning through the virtual world. The methodology for the
different activities was “ Expeditionary Learning”, “
Kinesthetic Learning”, Personalised learning” and
“Discussion”. Basic steps followed are:
Introduction: a question, challenge, or interesting event that
captures the students’ curiosity.
Exploration: the opportunity for students to manipulate
materials, to explore, and to gather information.
Concept Development: With a common experience to relate
to, terminology is introduced and concepts developed in
class discussion.
Application: This could take the form of an enrichment
activity, an opportunity to apply what has been learned, or a
test to assess learning.
ACTIVITY 1: POSTER MAKING
VIBRANT COLOURS : READY TO FLY IMAGINATION
As a part of ISA project, a poster making competition was held
on 8th May 2017 for the students of Class VIII with an aim to
help the students to exhibit their talent, besides showing
inquisitiveness to know about the culture 0f Ethiopia.
Almost everybody participated with lot of interest and
enthusiasm.
The children expressed their views and thoughts about
colourful culture of Ethiopia by drawing . This activity kept the
children engaged and it was organized to explore and encourage
creativity in children and offer them a platform to showcase
their skills. It inspired them to think and work creatively in
order to promote artistic excellence.
Activity 2: Scrap book
CONVENING CULTURE
On 13th April 2017 students of Class XI participated in Scrap
book making depict the culture of Ethiopia
Students used different colours, information and pictures to
present the topic in their best possible capacity.

CONNECT TO REFLECT
A detailed power point presentation was prepared and projected
on the screens showing a zestful and unique cultural comparison
between India and Ethiopia, dated
The activity helped the children to learn the dynamics of culture
in Ethiopia. The presenters were from grade XI. They researched
and explained the various features of Ethiopian Culture with
main highlights as dress, cuisine, art form dance music etc.
The activity enhanced the confidence of the students on public
speaking, presentation skills, critical thinking skills, cooperative
learning skills and writing skills.
ACTIVITY 4: VISIT TO EMBASSY
ETHICS AND INTERGRITY
Students of MBS International School visited Ethiopian
Embassy on April 24, 2017
Students of grade IX to XII were given this opportunity to learn
more about the culture of Ethiopia by making a close study
about the country through interaction with the officials at the
embassy .
Art gallery and the documentary shown to the students was
astonishing. It was a memorable experience for student and
staff.
