Leviton Releases Cat 6A Universal Tool-Free Plug

New universal connector supports 10GBASE-T networks, 100W PoE applications

Dubai, UAE. 23 January 2018 – Leviton announced its first fully tool-free, field-terminable plug,
the Cat 6A Universal Tool-Free Plug. The new plug is easy and fast to install, and is built with a
rugged metal body that provides superior alien crosstalk and EMI/RFI (electromagnetic
interference/radio frequency interference) suppression while supporting 10GBASE-T networks and
100W Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications. The Cat 6A Universal Tool-Free Plug
accommodates a variety of network applications, including the ability to connect directly to Ethernet
devices in fixed locations with a field-terminated solution.

“The Cat 6A Universal Tool-Free Plug delivers a standards-based approach that allows easy
connection to Ethernet devices throughout the building,” said Mark Dearing, Senior Product

which have connections in plenum spaces. The Cat 6A Plug offers an efficient way to connect to
devices like cameras and WAPs without the use of a proprietary tool.”

The Cat 6A Universal Tool-Free Plug is manufactured with resilient, user-focused features
including:

• Full compatibility for shielded and unshielded cabling

• Full backwards compatibility to Cat 5e and Cat 6 cabling
• Robust die-cast housing for plenum-rating, durability and 360° shielding
• Long release latch that ensures easy insertion and removal in confined spaces
• Accommodates 22- to 26-gauge solid or stranded conductors, allowing it to be used
with a wide variety of cable types

The Cat 6A Universal Tool-Free Plug fulfills a key need for field terminable plugs with rapid
