This is an Elementary level group following Speakout Elementary 2nd Edition coursebook. There
are 3 students in the group. This month, we have covered grammatical structures such will/wont,
might not, should, shouldn’t, and practical language such as giving advice and making sugges-
tions. We've also covered vocabulary related to topics such as art and culture, the human body
and health and phrases with get. We have covered the book until unit 11.1. Students also took
progress test number two.

Refik Yilmaz : He is a hard-worker. He attended regularly during the month of October and has
also shown keen interest and better attitude towards learning. Refik enjoys speaking and other
class activities and is a keen note taker. Also he is quite good once he understands the grammar
or the topic but he takes a while to do so. He is slow in pace to pick up new structures or topics
compared to other students, but he covers it up with dedication and hard work in the lessons.

Refik scored 36 in the test. His low test score could be due the fact that he had missed a few im-
portant lessons in the month of September. Nonetheless, he has grown in self confidence but
there is still a lot of ground to cover. And I believe if he continues to put in such an effort and in-
terest he will in future not only get better grades but will also be more comfortable and will be
able to express himself better using the English language.

Burak Dilaveroglu: Burak attended quite regularly during the month of October. He is quite ac-
tive in the lessons and is interested in various topics. He puts in a lot of effort in speaking and
learning vocabulary such as taking notes and putting vocabulary to use. He makes some mistakes
with grammar when he speaks but he is now realising his mistakes when questioned and has
shown some improvement in terms of accuracy and in ability to put his point across.

Burak scored 56 in the progress test. This may not be the ideal score but it exemplifies his grow-
ing confidence and the knowledge of the language. He has become more comfortable and is try-
ing to speak more and express himself using the language learnt in the lesson. However, there is
a a lot of room for improvement but considering his efforts, I believe He will show good improve-
ment in coming months.

Izzet Karahanci He is quite good for this level and the best student amongst the group in terms
of language ability. Normally, he is a regular attendee but he hasn't attended any lessons during
the month of October due to personal reasons as his father has been in the hospital due to seri-
ous ill health and surgery.

Also for the afore mentioned reason he could not take the progress test 2. When he is present he
is very active and participative. He works hard and has a real potential for language develop-
ment.

Overall, the students have shown improvements, perhaps not particularly in the tests but in the
lessons in general where they now feel more comfortable to try to speak out and are starting to
enjoy the learning process. If they keep it up, I believe they will be able to extend their
knowledge of the language while improving their speaking and over all skills in the English lan-
guage.
