Development
To introduce the lesson we will do two different activities to contextualize the main
topics. The class will be divided into two and two simultaneous activities will happen at
the same time.
Activity 1:
This activity will consist on a running dictation about the Jackson Pollock biography.
Different fragments of his biography will be placed on the classroom wall. In groups of
four, one student will be in charge of writing, while the others should go running to read
the fragment and come back to dictate it to their mate. Finally, when all the groups
have finished they will have to put in common the information and put it in the correct
order so as to create the complete biography.
Activity 2:
This activity will consist on a jigsaw about the action painting technique. In groups of
four students, they will be numbered from 1 to 4, then they will be grouped by their
numbers (all the 1 together, all the 2 together…), and will have to read a short
sentence about action painting. Finally, they will go back into their based groups and
will have to share the information in order to answer some questions about action
painting.
Teacher Role
In this session the teacher will develop the role of guider, it is important to give clear
instructions about the different activities so they are a bit complex. Clear and brief
explanations will be essential so as to make students understand the tasks they have
to carry out.
Furthermore, the teacher will be carrying out the role of monitor, walking around the
class, observing and guiding students during the performance of the activities.

Development
In this session, the class will be divided into two groups, and they will do two different
activities simultaneously. Each activity will last 30 / 45 minutes, depending on their
needs.
Activity 1:
Students will be blindfolded and using their hands they will have to paint in a piece of
wrapping paper. As they won’t be able to know what colors are they using, they will
have an element that represents each color, so through the taste, the touch and the
smelling they will have recognise the colors.
Moreover, some music stimuli will be performed in order to see the different reactions
and influences that has on each child.
Activity 2:
While the half of the class is doing the discovery activity, the other half will work on the
language. Students will have two different tasks to work the main vocabulary and
structures of emotions:
- A memory in which they will have to relate the emotion in english with the one in
catalan (15 min).
- Some cards with different subjects, verbs and adjectives to create sentences (15 min)

Practicum IV - Emotions through art
During this activity students will work autonomously, without teacher support.
Conclusion:
At the end of the class they will do a final reflection with the whole group in order to
explain their feelings when doing the discovery activity. They will use the vocabulary
and structures worked previously.
Finally, at home students will do a guided reflection that the teacher will provide them in
order to assess the activity itself and their attitude towards the performance.
Teacher Role
During the first part of the activity, the teacher will be an observer. As the activity
implies a complete participation of students and it’s aimed to discover elements and
colors through their senses, it is important to see the different reactions and attitudes
that students have during the performance, as well as the level of cooperation among
students (if they help each other on the discovery, if they cheat, etc…)
In specific cases, the teacher can also be a monitor so as to help students to discover
and facilitate them some processes of the activity taking into consideration they will be
blindfolded. However, we should try not to interfere so much on their performance.
At the last part of the activity (the final reflection), the teacher will play the role of
facilitator. She/he will have to manage the discussion trying to make students talk
about their feelings and sensations they had during the activity.
Finally, during the whole session the teacher will also play the role of language
resource helping students to get the main language skills in English.
Assessment
- Observation during the activity
- Cooperation of the students during the activity
- Observation of the final reflection
- Written guided reflection
Session 3
Objectives
Content
- Jackson Pollock
- Action Painting
- Vocabulary related to emotions
- Lexico structures (Subj + feel + adj)
- Paints
Classroom Individual
- Paper
Material management
- 3D materials (sand, &
salt, recycled organization
material)
Development
Individually, students will put into practise the technique of action painting. During this
activity students will be able to express whatever they want in their papers.
Some of the material provided will be paints of different colors, organic materials such
as sand, coffee, salt, leafs… and some recycled materials such as plastic caps.
Then, they will put a title to their artworks and they will have to write a very brief
explanation about it.
During this activity the teacher will have the role of observer. The activity demands an
active participation of the students, for that reason it is important to let them express
themselves without interfere in their decisions.

In the second part of the activity, the teacher can get the role of monitor and language
resource, helping students to write the brief explanation of their paintings.

Session 4
Creating a 3D Sculpture
Objectives
Content
- Contemporary Art
- Volume and three dimensional shapes
- Vocabulary related to emotions
- Lexico structures (Subj + feel + adj)
Development
This activity is aimed to make students create a three dimensional shape based on an
emotion.
Marta Tena i Pereiro
Practicum IV - Emotions through art
Students will be grouped in groups of 4 and they will have to think of an emotion they
want to represent. Once they have decided the emotion, they will have to choose the
material and the tonalities they want to use according to the emotion chosen.
Moreover, they will have to do a previous draft to clarify their ideas.
Once they have the ideas clear, they will start creating the artwork.
Finally, as a group, students will have to fill a fact sheet justifying their choices and
explaining briefly the meaning and representation of the artwork.
Teacher Role
In this session the teacher will take the role of observer, so in this activity is really
important to pay attention to the social interactions students have within the groups. In
this activity they will have to take group decisions and it would be nice to observe how
they solve the problems or confrontations that may arise. Moreover, the teacher will act
as a monitor, walking around the class and helping students in case they need it.
Assessment
The assessment of this activity will be the observation of the group working and
cooperation within the group, which is the key point of this session.
Moreover, the active participation of every student and their role inside the group.
In this particular activity, they will work in groups of 4. The groups will
Session 5
Objectives
Content
- Contemporary Art
- Volume and three dimensional shapes
- Vocabulary related to emotions art materials
- Lexico structures (Subj + like/want + noun)
Development
This session will be divided into two. The first part of the lesson will be to continue with
the three dimensional creation in case they need more time to finish it. Then, the
second part will be dedicated to agree how students want to design their Art Gallery.
To do this they will have to think of some items and elements they have to take into
account such as where they want to place it (in the classroom, in the corridor, in the
library..), the style or thematic they want to use, the spatial organization, etc.. To do
that and facilitate the discussion I will provide them some visual support (prezi, canva..)
with the main topics such as where, when, how.. And different options to choose.
Finally, they will have to create an invitation card with all the information about the
Gallery and their expositions (the day, the time, the place..) in case parents or other
students of the school want to come to visit it. In case they don’t have time to finish it,
they will have a entire week to keep working on it both at school and at home and the
teacher will provide them some cards models with the information so as to facilitate
them through google drive the creations.
Teacher Role
As in the previous session, the first part of the session the teacher will have the role of
observer and monitor.
Regarding the discussion part, the teacher will take the role of facilitator. She/he will
have to manage the discussion trying to make students participate and express their
ideas. Moreover, she/he will be a language resource, in order to help students with
the language. It is not expected that students talk all the time in English, but at least
that they try to do it if we provide them some support.
Assessment
The assessment of this activity will be the discussion and the invitations cards they do.
In this activity I will assess the participation, the classroom organization (if they respect
the turns, they talk one by one, they take their turn to speak…) and the effort they do
using English as the vehicular language for the main communicative situations.
Moreover, students at home will have to do a self and peer-assessment about their
work in groups during the 3D figures.

the place as they want, to manage the spatial organization, to organize the artworks, to
create cards for every work of art with the title, the author, the year, etc…
Finally, each group will expose their three dimensional creations.
Teacher Role
The teacher will guide students and help them to organize the event. However, in this
