Let's continue our investigation into the murder of Deborah Wardlaw by showing h
ow Mike Comberger, owner of Fantasy's Escorts, became a national powerhouse amon
g prostitutes and escort agencies with a little help from the Lexington police a
nd former Fayette County Attorney, Margaret Kannensohn.
My investigations beginning in 1997 started pointing to a few major players in t
he Lexington area. The more I heard about Mike Comberger and Fantasy's enterpris
es the more I became concerned. I started investigating Mr. Comberger and relayi
ng my findings to local churches, mayor's offices and Fayette County Attorney, M
argaret Kannensohn. The churches were concerned and some of the mayor's offices
contacted me and we discussed ways to regulate and eliminate human slavery by me
an of prostitution and escort agencies. Margaret Kannensohn and Fayette County P
olice officers, however, were not only less helpful but became very defensive an
d threatening to me.

Deborah Wardlaw was murdered during the time that I was doing these investigatio
ns and writing these letters. As you can see, I was intimately aware of the esco
rt industry and the major players involved during that time. Deborah was no long
er cooperating with the corrupt vice cops and this made her a target. Mike Combe
rger was not only cooperating with vice but using them. Mike had officers drivin
g the escorts to jobs, hanging out at the agency's townhouse and even partaking
of the escorts' vices.
This made Mike nearly invincible. So much so that he wore silk shirts unbuttoned
with chest hair and large bawdy gold chains around his neck. He had a jeweler m
ake a gold copy of his logo and made each girl that he considered "his" wear it
on a chain that he would purchase for them. He had a penchant for driving classi
c Cadillacs with every detail emblazoned in gold including the wheels. This woul
d normally make someone like him an easy target for police to spot. Mike didn't
seem to worry with an off-duty officer tagging along at his side everywhere he w
ent. I spotted Mike and a girlfriend/escort at an event at the Continental Inn o
nce. A few minutes later an off-duty officer pressed me into a table using his b
ody weight. He then leaned over and told me that he worked for Mike and Mike had
the protection of the police department so I'd better stay away from him (Combe
rger). When Mike found out that I was investigating him and his relationship to
the police he found me at a gas station and ran me over in front of 25 witnesses
. Though I wrote many letters and filed all the paperwork, Mike Comberger was ne
ver arrested nor charged in this incident. The officers that would later threate
n and possibly murder Deborah Wardlaw as well as set me up for many false arrest
s were in charge of this file. We'll discuss this more in detail later.
The police and County Attorney, Margaret Kannensohn, famously ran highly publici
zed stings on massage parlors and escort agencies over the years. However, in th
e coming articles I will prove that the only prostitutes busted during these 'st
ings' were the independent ones or the stubborn agencies that refused to pay the
'protection' money.
Below you will find my most recent e-mail regarding Fantasy's Escorts availabili
ty. The website explains that you must undergo a background check before booking
and you must use a credit card. The background check is to make sure that you a
re not a police officer or agency that is not on the payroll. It wouldn't do any
good. Whenever a good officer comes along, usually a rookie, and they start to
look into corruption and ties to organized crime and prostitution they are set u
p and gotten rid of. An accusation alone is usually enough to destroy someone's
career.
You can see this in the case of local police officer, Joshua Cromer, famous for
arresting John Michael Montgomery. Mr. Cromer's interest in corruption within th
e ranks at the Lexington Police Department made his arrest of a celebrity a conv
enient way to discredit him before he could prove his suspicions. Google the eve
nts in Mr. Cromer's life after he left the force and you'll see what typically h
appens to anyone who becomes a target of the dark side of police politics. I kno
w of several other stories of harassment from gangs of officers, one even leadin
g to the suicide of the victim of the harassment, a local minister and businessm
an. Let's not forget what happened to Fred Mills, manager of the Kentucky Theate
r, when he crossed these very same people. He dared play a classic porn show at
the theater. Not an average porn but one considered to be a classic of film-maki
ng in general. The city confiscated the film, Mills fought and won and the city
had to return the film to the theater. Not long afterward a couple claimed to ne
ed a ride. Mills, known to be a very nice gentleman, agreed to give them a ride.
They didn't get very far and the local police pulled them over. The passengers
were allowed to leave but Mills was detained. A questionable search found a smal
l amount of cocaine in the back seat. Mills was arrested and charged. As with my
case, a long fight ensued eventually leading to the dismissal of all of the cha
rges. Mills had won but his name had been slandered and the costs of this type o
f harassment go beyond monetary. Fred Mills, like myself, will never completely
trust those who are expected to protect us from exactly the actions they engage
in.

Human slavery and government corruption go hand in hand. Both are abhorrent and
dangerous and seldom exist without the cooperation of the other. You can help me
and other decent citizens of America by making phone calls to organizations lik
e your local Rape Crisis Center, HALT and your local police departments, county
attorney and attorney general's offices and ask them to look into Fantasy's, Mik
e Comberger, and the other agencies around the country that prey on the weak and
helpless among us. Demand that local police officers and vice squads allowing p
rostitution ads on Craigslist, in phone books and on the internet like Fantasy's
to 'pay to play' be arrested for aiding and abetting a crime.
Not long after I wrote the letters linked above and began to make phone calls, r
ecord and videotape evidence of connections between escorts and the local police
I was charged with running an escort agency. For two years I fought to have the
case thrown out while the county attorney admitted to the judge that they had o
nly a belief but no evidence of such. The judge allowed the case to continue unt
il after jury selection when the county abruptly dropped the case for lack of wi
tnesses or evidence. They had hoped that the extensive cost of their 2 year dela
ys would force me to take a plea bargain and thus destroy any credibility that I
would have in telling of my investigations. They thought wrong, however, in a s
ense they beat me anyway. You see, a secret of the court system is that if they
can't prove you guilty, they will just destroy you financially. Either way they
have taken everything from you, slandered your name and now that you are broke y
ou will be an easier target for their harassment. This time, however, you must s
ettle for a more reasonably priced attorney. And so begins the cycle of harassme
nt.
By the time I finish this series you will see the pattern of harassment and you
will see the same names appear time and again. I believe that by bringing the ev
idence straight to you and providing the documents to prove the connections a cl
ear picture of Lexington's corruption will emerge. You will have no doubt who mu
rdered Deborah Wardlaw and you will understand exactly how Mike Comberger went f
rom wanted felon hiding in Texas to bold and brash Lexington escort agency owner
to running a multi-state human trafficking crime syndicate with the help of loc
al police.
Please follow along and help me solve the murder of Deborah Wardlaw and help sto
p the sad crime of human trafficking. Local governments working with prostitutio
n is a sad secret in many communities across this country. Together we can bring
attention to this and help those trapped in this abusive life.
