The Central Valley California Women for Agriculture (CVCWA) is pleased to announce the call for scholarship applications!
Enclosed is a CVCWA application packet of information. The number of scholarships awarded may vary, depending on
CVCWA annual resources and applicant pool.
ELIGIBILITY*
● Sophomore, junior or senior college-level students pursuing a degree/career in agriculture and who are enrolled or
plan to enroll as a full-time agriculture major (semester or quarter) for the entire 2018-19 academic year at an
accredited state community college or state institution of their choice.
● Applicants must currently reside in the county of Fresno or Madera. Past CVCWA Scholarship recipients are not
eligible. Students outside of these two counties should contact their CWA regional chapter for scholarship
opportunities.
● The student applicant should also demonstrate financial need, scholastic ability and achievements and community
service, preferably agriculture related activities.
● Finalists must be available to participate in an interview with the CVCWA Scholarship Committee to discuss questions
related to California agriculture at a date to be determined. The student(s) selected to receive the scholarship(s) will be
notified by mid-April. Proof of enrollment or work in progress and verification of units will be necessary prior to
receiving the award for the Fall 2018 semester.
CRITERIA
To receive full consideration, the applicant’s complete package with adequate postage must include:

A fully completed and signed application form, typed or printed legibly;

An official current academic transcript in a sealed envelope; and
●
Two (2) original letters of recommendation addressed to the CVCWA Scholarship Committee using the CVCWA
form provided. The two letters should be in sealed envelopes and must be included with your packet--- one must be
from a recent college/university faculty member.

AMOUNT
Amount of award will be based on the following:
 4-year University $500

 2-year Community College $250

hand deliveries or e-mail applications will be accepted

This form will be available on our website under scholarships at: http://www.centralvalleycwa.org effective January 23, 2018.

I hereby certify that I have completed all of the information on this application and to the best of my

disclosed to third parties for the purpose of scholarship award consideration. If I am selected for a
scholarship award, I will notify the Central Valley California Women for Agriculture (CVCWA)
Scholarship Committee promptly of any change in my major, college/county residence, and/or course unit
enrollment that would affect my eligibility for this award. Proof of enrollment or work in progress and
verification of units will be necessary prior to receiving the award.

I understand that I will avail myself to an interview with the CVCWA Scholarship Committee if selected
as a finalist and will be prepared to discuss questions related to California agriculture. In the event I am
awarded a CVCWA scholarship, I also agree to attend a subsequent monthly CVCWA meeting to accept
the award. Additionally, I will keep the Central Valley Chapter of California Women for Agriculture
informed as to my whereabouts and employment progress following graduation.
